The time we spent in Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia was the most difficult part of the year so far. Everybody asked why? It is a wonderful and beautiful city, with friendly people, lovely food and a vibrant atmosphere. Why? Well, there are several reasons why.
I was jealous because I wasn’t a part of the Thailand team. It was the country I was most excited to see, but then I stayed behind in KL. It was difficult, extremely difficult. Later on I realized that God chose me to be there and not Thailand; with this the green colour disappeared and I could focus on Malaysia.
The second and prime reason is the unveiling of my heart. The environment we worked in was extremely demanding. We worked in a School for underprivileged children in KL, helping with the classes, projects and all the small or less important things the
teachers didn’t have time for. During this time I realized my motive for serving and how lazy I am. My motive was more self-centered and prideful. I leaned that serving should come from love, it is to it give my everything for others – it’s not about me!!! But the most important thing is I should do it for the One that created me, Who loves me, Who chose me, Who died for me.
If I look back I am ashamed of how I reacted but what I have learned is much more important. I am grateful for this vital lesson.
