Nina Cillie – Our official 5th member for Zambia
We started at Alabanza , which means living joyfully in Spanish with a yard full of dogs and people. We learned a lot and met lots of new friends and are a family already. Our teams were announced on Thursday by the leaders. We are divided into 5 teams for this year, Lime,Blue,Orange,Yellow and Red. We are the lime team – “ God’s LIME LIGHT”!!!!!!
Our first challenge was really a challenge. None of us will be bird watching or bird lovers ever again. There were 10 tasks starting by walking on bricks across the mine fields of sand and quick sand with obstacles and nasty monsters – okay it was only a old tennis court.
Guinea fowl – enough said about this bird. We walked for hours and days to a far away blue shop ( 2-3km) where our camera went dead, but luckily blue team was near to help us out.
The other tasks were mud monsters, tree bible verses, wonky bats, searching for shalom, diving pebbles and washing a car. strong>
We have been anticipating the Zambia challenge for days. We have to travel from Pretoria to Zambia and need to complete the following: obtain 4 border stamps from 4 different countries, Raise R 2000.00, Certify our passports and visa copies, take pictures of the big five at Victoria Falls, no not us, the REAL big five.
God provided amazingly. First we were picked up at the gate of Alabanza by a nice man that also knows Tannie Dinni from Alabanza and we also met Ken from Zambia when offering us a lift to Menlyn Shopping Centre. He gave us nice tips for out journey ahead.
We raised funds at Menlyn shopping centre by asking money at the traffic lights, later on during rush hour we raised funds again at Hatfield. God provided abundantly and we have enough money for our journey!!!!!!!!!!!
We are on out way to Zambia today and are very excited. Please pray for our journey ahead and watch this space for our next blog.
Blessings
The Lime Team
