Couscous, mint tea and lots of laughter

Looking over the incredibly green hills just outside of Fes in Morocco, I found myself sitting on the ground in the back yard of a Moroccan family. We were enjoying some Mint tea and waiting for Sunday lunch that was being prepared. Just two days before, we walked down a road, into a village with Emily who navigated a bit. We decided to go into a little village and were welcomed by ‘n local family who didn't know any of us. After about 10 minutes we were warmly invited to a traditional Sunday lunch. So here we were at Sunday lunch, sitting on some pillows, speaking English, Afrikaans, French and Derija (an Arabic dialect) all at once and mostly not understanding each other. Soon we started laughing about this and that and oh, what other common language works as good as laughter?!

We had some Couscous, veggies and a bit of chicken for lunch, all eating with their own spoon, but out of one tray... with your right hand only... It was great!!!

We spent about 3 hours with this local family, sharing life together and opening the door for Emily and her team to build further relationship when we leave. May this family, with their open hearts towards us, also open up and receive the King of Love as their Savior and Friend.
