We couldn't understand what the big deal was about, saying Global is a challenge. We were so spoilt there, that we soon realized it is simply impossible that we are that nice. God really blessed us so much! We believe God made us look shiny and nice, because really, we hardly ever bought our own food.
They taught us how to serve without an agenda. Their dedication towards God's work is amazing, for them it truly is God first and family second. It was inspirational! And the love of Christ just flows through them. They have servant hearts, loving with no false motives.
Our first country left us waiting for the challenge part of Global challenge, mainly because God made it such a pleasure to love these people. Serving the people suffering in the crisis in the Middle East was an eye opening experience.
Hearing their stories first hand was devastating. We felt helpless and could simply, love... Which was exactly what God intended for us to do. These beautiful people, who almost had no material belongings left, forced us to eat and drink all they have.
They're humble hospitality has made such an impact on our team. It planted a sharing-spirit into our characters. We know now that everything we have, we simply have it, because God has blessed us with it. Freely we have received so freely we will give.
And so we reach the final day of our first destination. We thought, joining Global we would rather enjoy the "butterfly hopping" lifestyle where you flutter from one place to another and enjoy the surface level pleasures that is offers.
But this has been a new experience for us on about 50 different levels. We know now what it means to "get a heart for people and a place". Serving here and being served by unexpected, kind hearted sons and daughters of God has changed us. We are avoiding packing our backpacks and will probably continue to do so until the last minute. We love this place.
We praise God for his provision, presence and patience during our time here. He is good and He is alive!
Unity is growing strong within the team as well. Recognizing each member's distinct role in what God has planned for us.
We can not wait to see what God does for the rest of this year. It has started with a bang!
