What a privilege! We started our time in Indo on a very luxurious note. Meeting some parents in Bali. Oh what a glorious time it was. Beaches, sun, fun and a whole lot of feedback. Of course when you start to invest and spend time with people, you grow attached.
Yes, it was devastating to say goodbye to the parents (and Reinhardt) I can't even imagine how hard it had to be for the biological children, if saying goodbye made me cry and I was just a friend.
After Bali we met up with our friends at Destiny Generation and we spent two weeks of "daily life" alongside them. In a way, I would say, we were despised. 5:00am prayer 3 times a week, late nights - this is what community living is all about.
Not only were we serving at the Destiny Generation Centre, we were also being stretched in our teaching gifts as we had to teach some classes at Budi Utama public school and Teruna Bangsa private Christian school. We loved the experience.
Investing into the lives of the next generation and being able to lend a hand in educating the next generation of leaders. All we can say is; WHAT A PRIVILEGE!
We also made amazing friends with the staff of Teruna Bangsa. Spending our days teaching at their side and then having lunch together. We didn't want to stop spending time together. On our last day we were blessed abundantly not just by hearing we were a blessing but receiving heartfelt gifts as well.
Blessing upon blessing.
We were intensely loved and accepted by the DG community. Their hunger for God flowed over into a passion for us, getting to know us, spending time with us, investing in our lives and our journey and wanting to love us more!
As I said we received blessing upon blessing as they planned a whole day to just say goodbye to us. Giving us beautiful memorandums as well as their time. It was, definitely one of our hardest goodbyes.
Altogether God did a great work in our team in Indonesia. We learnt the true meaning and value of serving out of sacrifice, we learnt about love, leadership and having a passion for people.
With sad hearts we say goodbye, not to Indonesia but to our friends.
