No one ever said that acheiving the impossible was easy, neither did they say it would be this awesome!
So a couple of weeks ago the 5 amazing people of Blue team set out from Mendoza, Argentina with everything we own on our backs and the aim of being about 5000 kilometers away in 6 days with nowhere near enough money... someone say fun?
We got off to a great start, we walked straight into a street party ( Argentina had just won the soccer) and a couple of hours later had managed to hitch a lift in the back of a truck that would take us 900 kms of our journey. Praise God!
The next few days however were not so easy. The truck dropped us at a petrol station at 2am. We waited there in the cold praying and encouraging each other until 5. Then we walked and walked and waited and waited in the cold and the wet, until we were thouroughly disheartened. finally a
bus stopped and picked us up to take us the 10kms into town. from there we managed to get another lift to another town where we walked and walked and waited and waited some more. our last lift took us about 140kms. by this time we were on day 3 and not even a quarter of the distance! it was becoming more and more impossible by the hour! which really excited the guys on our team and made the girls a bit nervous...
We slept that night on the grass on the side of the highway taking turns to try to hitch a lift. I personally stood there for 3 hours. I can´t really explain why but this 3 hours was one of the highlights of my trip! I had been fighting with God about why we weren´t getting lifts, but during this time He filled me with such peace and such joy, it was great! if not very useful.
We finally caught aa bus with money that a friend had blessed us with. The bus journey took over 50 hours and took us through Chile and all along the coast of Peru. it was beautiful and such a blessed
time! we were supposed to arrive in Lima a day late, but by some miracle we were only 9 hours late!
The best thing was that even though we were going through tough times, as a group we have never been better. God gave us such unity and love for each other. I would walk the world for this awesome God who gives us so much more than we deserve!
