God? He loves me?!

We sing about His love in Sunday School, we get told over and over agian how real it is and ´Jesus loves you´is said so much we have almost stopped listening...

But wow! He really really loves me and the way he shows it is overwhelming!

So we were given 6 days to do whatever we felt God was telling us to do. Four of us felt that God wanted us to go to Columbia, yes, Columbia.

I was excited and nervous and pleased that God wanted me to go with 3 strong guys as the picture I had in my mind of the country was less than safe;)

So we set off with high expectations of taking God to Columbia, of preaching the Gospel, of healing people, of changing the world one controversial country at a time! (in 6 days) We arrived at our destination 21odd hours of bus travelling later and realised that this journey was NOTHING like what we had expected! first of all, God was here already! Who knew? silly me thought that I was bringing Jesus, turns out He was taking me! All our busses played worship music, and we found scripture quoted everywhere we looked, not to mention the breathtaking views and the awe inspiring beauty everywhere we went that is definitely not man made!

God had brought us to a little town in the mountains famous for its 70 odd grave sites strange but true. and while we were sitting next to a couple of them and admiring this beautiful view I asked God: so why are we here? and I got the Answer back: "For My glory, not yours." And I realised that preaching the gospel and all that I had had in mind would have been for my glory, not His. But here we were in this place all because of Him and all because He wanted to bless us, to spoil us with adventure and beauty and peace, because He know what we need and what we like!

Our 2nd day there we went to see a Pyramid that is in a family`s back yard, and climbed to the top of it. It was perched on the top of a mountain on the edge of a cliff with a view that I cannot ever hope to describe looking out over the greenest, most rugged, most beautiful valley I have ever seen! There we sat folding and throwing paper planes with four young boys. That God loves us enough to take us to the most beautiful place on the planet is overwhelming! I sat there in awe for 2 hours, marvelling at this God that we serve!

What is even more amazing is that on the bus on the way home I was talking to one of our team about physical beauty and how much it weighs on us, and how difficult it is to not compare ourselves, and how inadequate we feel sometimes. After the conversation I was staring out the window at the beautiful countryside and I felt God say :" remember the view from the top of the Pyramid? you are more beautiful to me than that! Do you see all this beauty that surrounds you? To me you are more beautiful than all of that!"

God sees Jesus in us and to Him we are more beautiful and more precious than all the mountains and all the valleys and all the beautiful things in the world!

The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with Singing.                               -Zeph3:17-

May God open your eyes to see how much He truly loves you and how beautiful you are in His sight!
