The Journey Continues

One journey ended and another started.

Guess that's the cycle.

The new global challenge students arrived last week, bright eyed and bushy tailed. Thrown into the thick of it they'll be returning from their first camp with a new perception and some humility. Their lives already changed in unforseen and wonderful ways. God in the midst of it all.

I also started this year in the thick of it. The 7th of January I started working at Global Leadership Academy, or GLA for short, it's a one of a kind school that started as an off shoot from Global Challenge Expeditions. At GLA I'll be serving as a hostel father and I'll also be spearheading the partially finished loghome project henceforth. Both are full time responsibilities of significant undertaking and I'm just one person. To say that I was anxious about  how this would unfold would  be an understatement. Alas my perception has changed and I hope I've gained some humility.
God still knows best.

On the hostel's end I'll be part of a team consisting of 5 hostel mothers and another hostel father. An exemplary team that's been assembled from many different walks of life and from all over South Africa. I feel like God cherry picked the best, without referring to myself. I've realised that I'll have to be humble enough to ask for help when I need help and I'll also have to be aware of my perceptions so I can in turn offer help when needed. I've come to realise that I have something to bring to the table in a manner of speaking. This week the hostel kids arrived and my perception already changed of how it'll be as a 'father'. I've been blessed with four wonderful young men to disciple this year. Needless to say I want to be a positive influence in their lives, but I also feel that by the Holy Spirit working in and through them I'll be raised to new heights. I now believe that as a hostel father in practice it'll be easier than I thought thanks to the support that I have from the wonderful team previously mentioned. Emotionally and interpersonally it'll be a lot harder than I could've imagined thanks to the relationships that will be built.
God still knows best.

Spear heading the log home project is very daunting. Sure I know what end to use a hammer with and I have operated a chainsaw without losing any limbs, but building an entire house out of logs! Wow. What sane man would take on such a project without prier knowledge of the how to? This man. Since the third quarter of 2017 I knew I wanted to work with wood and I knew I wanted to move to Jeffries Bay. God opened the door so I could work on the ultimate wood house and also in Jeffries Bay! Prayers do get answered.
Two volunteers will be working with me in the coming weeks. This just as I was starting to worry about where we'll get the manpower from, God brought together all the right people once again. I realise that I'll need to be humble to ask for help and advice, I also realise that I should be open to having my perceptions changed as I'm certain there will be challenges to face.
God still knows best.

One journey ends and another starts.
Last year my life was fundamentally changed through doing a Global journey.
Through the journey continuing in this new way, my life will certainly be changed, once more in unforseen and wonderful ways.
God please be in the midst of it all, for You know best.
