I'm leading a team this year!
In less than four years God has come and radically changed my life for the better.
I believe that each and every single one of us are led to lead.
In other words Christ leads us to lead others to him.
What a privilege it is to be able to lead a team of intrepid missionaries this year! Our smaller team has been dubbed Hidden Places, this year there's also one team called Distant Nations and another called Work Your Way. Our team will go to more than 15 countries from South America to Central America, Europe (Greece), Asia and South East Asia all whilst serving established missionaries and proclaiming the gospel as we go.
Excluding myself my team consists of 7 young adults all between the ages of 18 and 23, we're 2 guys and 6 ladies, one of whom happens to be my sister! Though that'll also come with its own set of challenges I consider it an amazing blessing.
Training kicked of early January and a month has already passed in a flash.
The past month was spent getting to know each other, doing many teachings, a little bit of camping in the bush and now we just finished with work week. Work week is normally a time where the different teams take on different building projects at GLA, the high school that's affiliated to Global Challenge. The project this year was gargantuan and thus all three the teams concentrated on the one project.
We built a pedestrian walkway and a bridge. It entailed a lot of physical labour to install heavy concrete curbs, to dig trenches in unforgiving rocky clay,to build up ramps towards the bridge and lastly to actually build the 37m bridge. The teams took on the project joyfully and worked diligently in scorching heat, billowing wind, rain and cold. To say it was a trying week would be an understatement yet they just kept going, waking up at 07:00 and working until 19:00.
I'll boast in Christ saying He gave us strength and even kept us awake when interceding in individual prayer slots. It's tangibly visible what Christ is doing in and through these young people's lives. My heart has swelled with pride, joy and excitement for what's still to come. The project was well executed and the students can be proud of what has been accomplished.
Where once bridges were burnt now bridges are being built. Thank you Jesus!
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
