Sewe Afrikaanse Meisies & Tres Espanola Sujetos

This is literally the tenth attempt I'm making at writing an introduction to this blog. Simply because I have no words funny enough to put onto paper our visit with three Spanish boys. The Giggel Geel Guacamole Girls headed to our home visit and Bible Study expecting an hour of Spanish preaching followed by uncomfortable chit chatting before we could head back home. To say we were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. To say we laughed more than at any other time this year would be true. We were welcomed by Norma, the lady of the house, she however said...

Luke 10 Updated

As promised here's a brief summary of day 6 through to day 12. After we left Omar in Salina Cruz we hiked along the scenic coastal route. And scenic it is! We're all in accordance that this is some of the most beautiful land we've ever seen, what a privilege it was! After quite a few rides and miles walked we were stranded on a random corner on the outskirts of a little coastal town. We ended up spending the night camping in a yard of a chicken fighting ranch. (In Mexico chicken fights and betting is a big thing) Earlier...

Challenged in Africa

It’s Monday evening around ten and the air is filled with excitement and anticipation. Tomorrow is the start of Global Challenge X 2008, we’re set to depart to Zambia as a team around 11am…
Or maybe not! As we were soon to find out the leadership of this organisation is full of surprises and can never be trusted. They lied to the parents without as much as a sly smile. Challenge 1, Africa Challenge is announced, and what a challenge!

Roller skating 10years back...

First she just walked into our room... "Who do you think you are... Do Chinese people have no manners? And no, I do not feel like roller skating tonight! I'm lazy, by bed is warm and I seriously do not feel like trying to figure out what you say over loud music... These I have to admit were my thoughts when our funky Chinese friend came to fetch us for our roller skating date...

Why didn’t you tell me???

Written by Jana

Have you ever thought how disappointing it would be when you die – expecting to see God, go to Heaven and having eternal life but instead you go to hell? How bad would it be if you were convinced that what you believe was true, and it turned out not to be. How upset would you be if your Heaven turns out to be hell?

Last Supper... Guess again?

yellow_girl.jpg26 March 2008 - by Yellow Team

Have you ever felt your tummy making spirals and flip flopping while you wait for your supper bill? It's not really the best of feelings, is it? This is exactly how we felt after sharing one of the best meals we've had with two locals. Wesley, Tjaart and Margot - the more active three in the team, met our friends while playing soccer with the scholars at the local school. On our last evening in the town of which name we're still not sure we invited the boy and his brother to have noodles with us. They suggested local lamb.

A Date With Jesus

A Date With Jesus
Sometime last week while lying in bed I realized that I want more, I need more! I felt like a rejected girlfriend, I felt unloved and unnoticed. I know God is good, I know He loves me, I know He lives in me but I didn't feel it. My head and my heart weren't in the same place and I needed it to be, so this I asked. The next morning I woke up feeling bound and bothered - I wanted to be free! I expected it to get better, but it got worse. Where was God? Why didn't He answer?...

Sir Yes Sir

Never again would Auckland, Maori's, games on the beach or a walk in the woods be seen the same. Not even bungee jumping or kayaking will have the same appeal. This all to thanks to our New Zealand Challenge. And what a challenge it was!   We started off with a run along the beach. We headed toward the city and completed various tasks on our way.  All along we were motivated by our own personal drill sergeant Prosch. Luckily the view was spectacular and God faithful. Along our way we found very friendly kiwi's more than willing to help...
