Egypt-Israel 2011 wYw (Video)

The final stretch of the 2011 Work Your Way journey took place in Egypt and Israel. Personally Cairo had a tendency to remind me a bit of India. Dry, hot, a lot of poverty, dirty, people trying to constantly sell something to you, bad odors floating around in the atmosphere every here and there etc etc. But still through all that there was a love and compassion for the people which is hard to explain. Especially when thinking that in the very same areas we were walking 25 Coptic Christians were killed just days after we left. I can't help...

Another Blessed Day at Work Your Way

It has truly been another blessed day at Work Your Way. We got up early as usual to have some quite time spent with God. Welman and Philip(who is convinced his stomach is starting to grow at a way to rapid pace) also decided it is about time to go for a jog with Tobi around a beautiful lake. De Necker, Freddy and Henro sat at the lake and read the Holy Bible, while Angelo and Bernard were kind enough to stay at home and wash the dishes aswell. For breakfast we had probably the most famous Global Challenge meal,...

Angelo, Dee, Hen: Luke 10!

Angelo, Dee, Hen: Luke 10!
Hi, Angelo Petersen here! My Luke 10 experience. When we (De Necker, Henro and I) arrived in Mae Sot(In Thailand next to the Myanmar border) we didn’t know what the Lord expected us to do. We heard about a farmhouse school and we wanted to go and seek out our ‘man of peace’ there. But we couldn’t find it. Then we took a moment to pray together and ask the Lord exactly where he wanted us to go. We then found a hospital and felt we should go there and pray for the people there. We then found a nun...

The Aussie Adventures

The Aussie Adventures
Work Your Way has truly had a blessed time in Australia so far. We spent most our time at Mountain Trails Adventure Camp, where we helped out with Kids Camps by leading different activities such as: Archery Horse riding Abseiling Caving and dirt biking! We also did some other work projects with probably our biggest being building a Round Yard for the horses. That included some cutting really big trees down with a chainsaw... And then debarking them, putting posts into the ground and then using some threaded rod to set all the railings up (as seen below). We also...

Day 2: Final day in KL (wYw)

“Bleep, bleep, bleep” is all that we are hearing from a very upset Frenchman in the lobby of the backpackers that we are currently staying.  He is busy booking flights online.  I think it’s his visa or something.  Ja, the joys of travelling the world.  Luckily our day was not as temperamental. We awoke to the sounds of Monday morning traffic outside our 3rd floor rooms.  Everyone stretched out of the fetus position to start the day in the Word.  After this we had corporate prayer where we prayed for our loved ones at home and people that need healing.  Wisdom...

Some More Thai (wYw)

The team was quite slow to wake this morning at 06h30.  This was the result of a late night because of a little night swimming… if you know what I mean.  There are definitely advantages to being an all boys team. After the usual routine of quiet time, prayer and breakfast (2-minute noodles and coffee) we had a reflection session.  De Necker urged the guys to go to their journals and to reflect on their expectations for the year.  Which have come to pass and which are still to be dealt with?  How have we grown, where are the areas...
