Theres a place which you can either love or hate. But dont trust your ears for words can only deceive. Don't trust your eyes for images can hide the truth. Rather trust your heart, and let it follow the narrow roads. Sing to the music and be engulfed by a sea of culture and beauty. But be warned, once you get a taste of the rich, spicy culture, you may not want to leave. The image I had of India was one of total poverty, sickness and a lot of interesting smells. Being pushed from all sides and always...

Are you willing to give it all? No matter what you may see or where you may walk. Though you may stare into the eyes of demons and monsters, will you still be able to worship His name? How deep is your love for Him. Today I saw a man. A man who was barely able to walk because he was ridden with sickness. As I watched him I was able to clearly make out where one bone starts and another ends. Today I looked into the eyes of death. You do not know how a heart can...
After an excruciating two days of travel by bus and train and hanging out at various interesting stop over stations, we arrived in Macedonia in the middle of the night - tired, dirty and hungry. Our moods were immediately lifted when we were welcomed by our friendly hosts who received us at the train station with big smiles and joyful hearts. They treated us to a midnight feast of the biggest hamburgers we have ever seen and it was not long before realized that Macedonia, like the Middle East has a very late night culture. Nothing happens before 10 in...
We spent one week in Greece. One week that help to shape my life. Our ministry there was to clean up the accommodation facilities and prepare the camping grounds for the summer season. We were preparing the ground for summer camps...both physically and in prayer!:) In the afternoons we had the opportunity to swim in the ocean, take long walks along the shoreline, play some sports and explore the little coastal town of Leptokarya. We also had amazing times of worship on the grass outside and around the camp fire at night where God really revealed Himself to us in...
We departed from Turkey almost two months ago already, but it was such an overwhelming experience to be a pilgrim in the country where a big part of the new testament plays off that I struggled to put it into words. Here is my attempt at celebrating the highlights! We arrived in Istanbul, a cosmopolitan city located halfway in Asia and halfway in Europe with a strong Middle Eastern influence. The streets smell of incense and turkish delight and various kinds of fruit teas can be found in every sidewalk cafe and street market. Here I found that Psalm 16:5...
Isanbul - A place of contrast. Located on two continents, a city of many worlds. The place that dominated continents. The meeting point of cultures and civilization. A capital of culture, an inspiration, and a true Turkish delight. It's hard to describe a city with so many years of history. We arrived at the place wish soon turned in to my most memorable adventure destination so far. Settling in to our hostel, and getting a good night of rest (that only lasted until 5 in the morning due to the multitude of world renowned mosques...
23 April 2015. Independence day- A day of celebration, music, dancing, partying all decorated with blue and white flags. Walking down the highway in Tyberias I saw two men in a little white Kia, their faces looked like home! It was oom Wikus and Hennie hooting all the way! Excitement bubbled up in me, after not seeing loved ones for so long! We ended up eating Mc Donalds on top of the hill we pitched our tents on (it ended being someone's farm, haha) Our first two nights in Tyberias ended up being sleepless, because...
2 015-03-16 Our time in beautiful Zanzibar ended, and we were excited to merge with Hidden World and WYW again. After spending a very blessed night in Dar es Salaam, we got on the 06:00 bus to Kenya! "Some call it Africa, I call it home" , or so they say. My entire view of Africa changed. I am South-African, so Africa, beautiful Africa, had an immense impact on my heart and the way I saw things. After 13 hours of travelling, we got a taxi that took us to Kilifi. My seats window was broken,...
There's a new dawn arising, there's a new constellation forming and a new song playing. I can see it being formed through the winking of the stars. I can hear the song playing through the whispers of the wind and the rolling of the waters. There's a new time coming. And it's coming for us. The reborn and the saved, the hopeless and the hopeful. We will be one, we will be renewed. The day I got baptised was the start of a new life. That's what I was told though. Whether I believed it or not, I'm still not...
2015-03-30 With bacon and banana filled tummies, we left for Jordan. On the airport we found out that our entire route got changed because war broke out in Yemen. [This is probably the right time to say: A LIFE LIKE NO OTHER] After 32 hours of travelling, and no sleep due to the fact that Geneke and I would rather explore and take selfies with stuffed camels on Dohas airport. Jordan, oh Jordan!! I have always wondered why people living in the desert, paint their houses the color of the desert. It just doesn't make any sense to me!!...
