Luke 10 -Day 4

Luke 10 -Day 4
Normal 0 After breakfast the man dropped us off at a point in the road where the vehicles must drive slower due to lots of speed bumps in the road.   We stood there, in the suffocating heat for a long time, praying and trusting for a lift to the next town.   We got a lift on the back of a pickup truck to Mapa where we were dropped at a t-junction.   After about 20 minutes we got a lift to a small café a few miles on.   We drank a cool drink and tried to hitch...

Luke 10 -Day 2

Normal 0 Sorry to say that our second day wasn’t as eventful as the first one. Two of our team members, Marisa and Christine were sick in bed the better part of the afternoon (the rest of the team offered them moral support by also sleeping the afternoon).   The morning we were more productive though…Marisa, Elzet and Paul went to buy breakfast for the team, while Christine and Herman took care of the blog Orange team wanted to post. While buying breakfast Marisa and Elzet (they lost Paul somewhere along the road) met a man who gave them his...

Orange Team – Luke 10, Day 1

Orange Team – Luke 10, Day 1
Normal 0 As you may know we were sent out on a Luke 10 journey from Panajachel to Mexico City on Wednesday the 20 th of August. However God told us to only leave on the 3 rd day. Only realizing later that God had a plan for us in these three days, we did not only have to clean up the house but also spend time greeting the locals and sorting out all the left over clothes left by the rest of the team.   So at 9am on Friday morning we started our faith journey to Mexico… more...

New and improved

New and improved
Guatemala had a great impact on the orange team. This month was an emotional roller coaster, with dark and scary downs and highs on which one can catch flight. Individually there is not a single one of us that was left unchanged...whether it had been made new, or just improved on. God came and changed hearts, minds and attitudes. He restored relationships and taught us the value of unity in a team. Our team leader carried us through this time with constant prayers and passed her test on how to handle difficult situations with  love and grace with flying colors!...

Orange team in New Zealand

It's been quite a while since we've experienced Western culture, yet it was a refreshing break to spend almost 3 weeks in New Zealand. The first week was set aside to processing what happened in India and have a few days of holiday. During this time we stayed in Algies Bay, just outside of Auckland. Thereafter the team was split up. A group of 6 went to Wellington while those remaining were hosted by various South Africans in Auckland. The Orange team were privileged to stay in Auckland. Here we attended various church services, testifying about God's working in,...

Lessons we learn on the road

Our New Zealand challenge was somewhat of a disaster...as you could clearly see on the scoreboard!! This will be my (Christine's) account as to why it can be classified as disasterous. At the beginning of the year the orange team started every challenge off with a prayer. We dedicated the whole day to the Lord and ensured that everything we do will bring glory to the Lord. Due to the fact that we finished last in the India challenge, the team was more concerned about the scoreboard and less about pleasing God. So here follows the Orange team's fool proof...

Challenge number 3 in just 9 days….

img_6519_small.jpgWe experienced a lot in these last few days. We slept like logs in the evenings, because we had a “strenuous” schedule. We had to do a lot of awesome activities as part of our challenge.

Raindrops are falling on my head? Wait...Its snow!

img_5898.jpgAs we walked out of the hotel at about 6:30 we clearly realized that it was not only ice-cold but raining as well. But a little rain does not scare the Orange team. "Ons skrik vir niks!" So we decided to face the Giant!

China will never be the same!

Camping out with Orange!

Written by: Paul du Plessis

CHINA - We decided a few days ago that we wanted to get away from this small village, because there is only so much that one can do here. And besides, a little fresh air never hurt anyone….yet. So we planned the trip for 4 days, while it was still warm. That was the ironic part, we thought that it would only get warmer and warmer, but yes, it didn’t happen like that.
