Tangible Love

You know the song, "break my heart for what breaks yours"? There are times when I regret singing it, because God wants us to know His heart, and He will definitely fulfill this request. And that's exactly what He did over this time in Africa.

When this happens, you have two decisions. You could feel guilty for everything you have and make it about you. Or, you take the opportunity to learn God's heart in this situation and step up to make a difference. Even if it's in one person's life. You get to love this person with a God kind of love. A love they have not experienced. A tangible love.

I also learnt that something actually needs to be done. And done swiftly. So when we found this 24 year old mother, living on the streets with her 2 year old, we did something. Within one week, we put our last money together to rent a place with another lady, and organize a job at a salon, 10 steps from her new home. And she is in the process of learning more and more about Jesus with other wonderful ladies that live next door. We had the opportunity to love her in a way that made a difference to her life. And that's what it's about.

What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

James 2:14‭-‬17 NLT
