At 12- midnight our travelday began
On a 9 hour busride from Rwanda to Uganda we set off.
Sleepy heads swaying side to side.
A popping sound of a tire awakens us. Friends piggybackride eachother into the dark to do 'short call'
12- midnight again we were off to India.
12- noon we left the airport, not aware of the adventure that awaited us.
So we set forth with a limited budget, 20 kgs on our backs with a day bag in the front.
Minds set on the dormitory 3km from the airport.
Trying to stay strong, the humid and heat, Jesus.. Strength I now need.
Around the first corner Jesus answered because there stood a taxidriver almost as if he was sent.
"For free for free I help you."
Welcomed with an aircon in the taxi, oh Jesus how beautifuly you care about the little things.
He dropped us near where the dormitory was located.
Asking for directions, up and down. We found it. finally.
Welcomed with the words
"Only men allowed."
So we set off once again with a non-english speaking indian in the lead. 3rd dormitory 4th dormitory.
Up and down. Our throats thirsting for water. Our bodies covered in sweat.
The final dormitory.
Hear the price. No no no.
Jesus what now ?
No wifi for research no backup plan.
Instantly the holy spirit reminds me of the messages I sent out on couchsurfing.
Only one person replied saying he'll help us in need.
In desperation, trying to ask non-english speaking locals to borrow their phone, one guy sort of understood.
I called the couchsurfer.
Through bad quality sound and an indian accent, somehow I understood. "I will come fetch you. You can stay with me tonight."
I give the phone to another local to give direction.
Thankyou Jesus! A place to sleep.
Traveling an hour and a half by train, and tuk-tuk.
Made a new friend in a crowded traincompartment.
All looking like red faced ninja turtles (the big bag on the back effect), she asked us what our story is.
"If you need place to stay you can contact me."
Jesus how faithfully you provide! arrived at our couchsurfer's home, we can ONLY stay one night.
Immediately I contact the lady I met. She organized another couchsurfer who first wanted to meet us.
At 12 midnight we were sitting in a possible host's restaurant.
"I need to arrange some things then I will get back to you but don't worry you will have place to stay."
They cared for and encouraged us to just chill and enjoy our time as tourists.
Began our day with Indian chai after a good nights rest under the stars on the patio of our first couchsurfer.
By 12- noon we received the exciting news that our second couchsurfer guy will be able to host us for the rest of our 5 days in India!
About 12- noon on our last day we were blessed with a cake to celebrate our birthdays for the year because they knew we won't be able to spend it with our families back home.
Oh Jesus, how you always leave me amazed at your care and provision even in the most unexpected moments.
Even though India was just an unexpected 5 day layover and we didn't have a ministry point, God so beautifully provided for us. We learned so much about different religions and cultures. We were blessed to see amazing places in Mumbai and eat traditional Indian food. And to be quite honest we didn't budget ANY money for this 5 day layover because we only knew a few days before going that we are going. But GOD.
I have learned and seen how no religion, culture or language ever have to be a barrier to make new friends, laugh and serve. Nothing is ever a too big of a challenge for God. He USES the most unexpected people and situations. I just love how God just loves mysteries and unexpected surprises to show us that He STILL provides and cares - even when it's totally out of our control.
Sometimes the best things in life come at the most unexpected moments.
