I love Love

Global challenge is all about learning. I’m currently still working on time management though so reader, prepare yourself for a speed story.

The first couple weeks of the challenge have been filled to overflowing with.. well challenges... personally, spiritually, in groups, while being far more unclean (literally covered in dirt and sweat) then I’d anticipated and also in spaces I’d never dreamed I’d be in before (like the time I was sleeping in a shelter with my team and a snake slithered up against my arm and there was NOTHING I could do about it). Suffice to say one of the things I’ve already learned has a lot to do with trusting Him.

He has taught me about being vulnerable and running from pride through the sharing of my testimony this week. He has taught me about searching for and finding His presence in simple, quiet times through taking 15 minute walks with Him. He has taught me about my striving against Him to maintain control over many aspects of my life and heart but has been so faithful in not leaving me to my own devices. If I start laying bricks to erect walls around my heart, he rains (and reigns) from above.

Lastly I want to say that this week we started a bridge-building project that had us facing extreme heat, rain, long hours and close encounters with what we thought were our physical limits. I’m so excited to say that I can now competently use a pick, lay cement, shovel for extended periods of time, secure planks to a bridge and cook for large groups of hungry people. These may all seem like trivial accomplishments but my heart is soaring. The Lord is preparing us for this year. He’s showing is our weaknesses, our insecurities, our leadership areas, our hearts desires and and He’s being creative while doing so. Jesus is changing my heart.

Oh how I love Love.
