Turkey via Mexico to Guatemala...

Date: 16 May 2009

Place: Kusadasi, Turkey to Panajachel, Guatemala

Kusadasi, Turkey

What difference can one make into someone´s life? By a simple smile OR a hand of support OR just a friendly ´Meraba´ (Turkish) OR ´Hola´ (Spanish)?

Before departing for Guatemala, we knew we left a significant mark in Turkey. The city of Kusadasi in Turkey does not know how much they are missing...the love of Jesus Christ.

During our stay in Kusadasi we met some young Muslim guys and we had great times playing rugby and fellowshipping. We also invited them to our evening Bible studies and praise and worship sessions. In these moments they had the opportunity to experience a life of abundance in Jesus Christ. Each time when we met we showed them love and respect for God. I believe they also noticed the difference in our lives.

On our last days before departure we found a local Spirit filled church... WOW... found in a 99.99% Muslim country. The pastor and his wife are filled with love, compassion and a heart of serving. We join them for church and we had an opportunity to pray together.

Meeting some Christians...

When we left Kusadasi, the young men we have met walked us to the bus station while singing: ¨Open the eyes of my heart Lord¨. Maybe not knowing the impact of singing it, I knew God is working in them and knows exactly the impact in their lives. In was so amazing!

Saying goodbye was very hard and difficult...

PS: We also had a great time celebrating Darko's birthday!

Guatemala, Panajachel

We travelled from Turkey via London to Guatemala in just 2 days (plus a few GMT hours), seeing 3 of the biggest cities of the world... Istanbul... London... and Mexico City.

And yes, the Lord protected and guided us, not even seeing one ¨pig crossing the road”… due to the swine flu out-brake in Mexico.

Panajachel is a beautiful Spanish village surrounded by hills, three volcano peaks, a huge lake AND also a great need for Jesus Christ. Part of our mission was to serve by building a new house and fixing another house by installing a door and windows. In the process fellowshipping with the locals and learning more about Jesus Christ.

Having a break at the building site...

We were working very hard together, living the way Jesus lived... living in thankfulness towards God. Thankful for every earthly blessing, even the pen I am writing with to GOD’s GREAT ABUNDANT LOVE and GRACE.

John 3:27 A man can receive nothing, except as what has been granted to him by heaven.

We also had sell / home groups with the local people... telling stories, playing with the little children and having a nice cup of chirrepeco tea. At one of these events I would never forget the words of the guy leading the group: ¨I have never seen everything of God in a person".

Every Sunday was a privilege to visit Pastor Ben’s church. During our time we learnt so much form this man of God. We also had time to spent time with the kids…
