"Out of Africa" and into China

imgp0983.jpgWritten by: Hector

After 6 weeks of intense classes, village life, malaria mosquitoes, foreign foods and lots of rain our time at Zambia (FCE) has come to an end. It was a good time and we have received very valuable and necessary training. I want to thank the FCE staff for what they have invested into us as a team and for having us there.

Here are a couple of pics from Zambia:

To summarise my time in Zambia, I can say that I have come to know the Lord better and love Him more.

Some more photos below...

MASAITI - 05:00 - 07/03/08

We had an early start as we have to catch the bus from Luansha to Lusaka, about a 6 hour journey. At Lusaka we changed busses and continue to Livingstone, about 450 km but a good 8 hours drive because of the road conditions. You really need a PHD to drive on those roads - Pot Hole Dodging. We arranged with the bus driver to sleep the night in the bus and then he will take us to Victoria falls the next morning.

imgp0969.jpgThe Vic falls is really something to see, the noise/thunder, mist, rainbows and watermass is just& nbsp; breathtaking. You have to brace yourself to get wet though.

By the time we were finished at the Vic falls it was already 12:00 (Sunday) and have to get going as we had a bus reserved from Gabarone to Pretoria at 06:30 the next morning. This gave us 18 hours to travel more than 1000km on African roads and to cross a border at Kazungula, which seems like an impossible attempt, but not if you have the Lord on your side. Just as we had cross the border we got a lift on an empty truck to Francistown - halfway to Gabarone.

imgp0983.jpgIt almost felt like a gamedrive as we have seen 36 elephant on the way from Kazangula to Francistown.

We have just missed the train at Francistown to Gabarone and have to trust for alternative means of transport to Gabarone. Our roads cross with a local, Jamel, who has a friend that have a 25 seater minibus. He gave him a wakeup call as it was almost 24:00 and convinced/begged him to take us to Gabarone. Jamel also told the taxi driver to charge any additional costs to him personaly.

So we left Francistown at 01:00 and arrived in Gabarone at 06:45 where the Intercape was still waiting for us.

After a day of rest we flew to Hong Kong and we are currently in Macau (China) for the weekend from where we will travel to Lanzhou on Monday 15/03/08, but more about this in a later letter.
