Storm in NZ

The colder temperatures of Nieu Zealand were very refreshing after the humidity of India. We arrived in Auckland around 26 June and spend a week of debriefing and recharging at a beautiful place just north of Auckland, Algies Bay. We were really spoiled by the Kiwi South Africans (potjiekos and koeksisters) who took care of us. Thank you all.

Six of the team; Tobi, Wesley, Kobus, Margot, Zylna and me went down to Wellington from 5 -12 July where we joined a local church' winter program called STORM which is a acronym for Service To Others Really Matters. The team that we partner with was a young, energetic and joyful bunch, so it didn't take us long to feel welcomed and part of a team.

During the mornings we ran a kids club for the local children. Each day had a theme and memory verse and all the activities were build around the day's theme. The themes were:

God is Real (Jer 10:10)

God is with us ( Josh 1:9)

God is strong (Ps 118:14)

God is awsome ( Ps 47: 2)

God is in charge ( John 14:15)

In the afternoons we were involved in community projects i.e. gardening, painting, cleaning and spending time at a old age home. The evenings were usually spend in fellowship (which includes a Haka from the Maori people on the team) and devotions.

A strong bond was build in that one week and it was tough to say good bye to everyone. Thank you Bob and the Storm Co team for your contribution into our lives.

Hector
