The children from India

Almost two weeks after we have left India, but still the children at the orphanage stays in my heart We really had an unforgettable time with the kids. The orphanage that we visited was one of many that are run by the organisation and had about 500 kids. This organisation look after about 6000 orphans in total. (A bit of statistics: There are currently 86million street children in India, almost double SA population)

One of the questions raised to me was what motivated me to get involve with the kids, well I don t think it will be possible to be there and not engage in the kids life. It was almost as if they looked after us. If at any time you would stand alone a kid would come take your hand and either just stand with you or show you around the place or where his bed is. They are so content and happy besides their circumstances or history.

Another thing that touched me is how they pray, they would get at 5:30 in the mornings for devotions and then again in the afternoons the whole orphanage will gather for prayer and songs. But it was actually the contents of their prayer that was profound. They never seem to pray for themselves or their own situation, but it will always be for others or to praise God. This encourage me to look into my own prayer life and what I focus on in my prayers. Is it really directed to God and to praise Him or just another way of focusing on myself.

Thank you all the children and staff for imparting into my life and showing me that dependence on God is the only thing that really matters.
