We have been in China for almost 2 weeks now and it is about time show you what is happening in China lately.
The latest event was a visit to the Great Wall which was really great as you can see on photo beside.
The previous two weeks we were kind of "Stepping on toes" as described by Sulene, so with Sulene's consent (I hope) I have added part of her email to explain more...
"From the moment we tried to cross the border to enter China it was evident that we were stepping at least on someone’s toes…
It took a good seven hours of interrogation and searching of our entire luggage before we could finally cross over to mainland China. Just in time to get the bus to Guangzhou and still be able to catch our 34 hour train to the northern province where we were to spend our month of ministry in China. And there are still people saying that miracles don’t happen today?
Due to the Tibetan riots in certain areas we were unable to go to the towns we originally planned to go to. So the entire team ended up in the same city near the Yellow River. It was truly a blessing for us. We were able to spend Easter Friday together and enjoyed communion as a body in unity. We also had a 24/7 prayer chain going for 4 days and were once again amazed by our Father’s faithfulness in revealing His will and strategies to us.
A couple of days later the teams were able to spread out to different towns and cities. Currently we are all exploring our areas; seeking to build relationships (especially with the odd few people who can speak English); sharing the Good News; interceding for the people and nation and communities we’re in; and serving our friends as well as we can." (Thanks to Sulene)
It was here that Reynard and me part from the rest of the red team, traveling even more north to assist in the opening of a coffee shop. Here are a couple pics of our travels north.
Some locals we met on a train and invited us to their home for lunch. Their daughter could speak a bit of English and act as interpreter.
The spread that they put out for us. Was really good - dumplings, noodles, some more noodles, tomatoes, and all kind of different sauces.
Just look at the cool glasses - wanted to buy a pair but are quite expensive, R250.
One horse power: This is how they still plough and sow in China.
China is really cool, okay freezing, for those of you that wondered.
One of the towns we visited is surrounded by snowcapped mountains like this, fairy tale style.
One of the fortresses build along the Great Wall of China. This were the only places where you could pass through the Great Wall to the other side. The construction of this fortress was started in 1372.
The wall at this particular spot wasn't as great and was mainly delapidated (I believe it means torn down)
This is all for now folks. We plan to reach our final destination tomorrow, where we will spend the next couple of weeks.
