Exciting times. Transkei has been a period of victory and battle! We are six “leedas” with six leading bags on the back of a red Ford bakkie writing a blog in the midst of a challenge.
We were four teams that split up into 2 main projects; RURAL MAHOSHENI and COFFEE BAY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL.
Rural Mahosheni: EXTREME MAKEOVER
When you hear the word extreme makeover you would propably think about reboulding a house.
Well we trusted God not only to help us start building a clinic and a 'rondavel' but more than that for a Spiritual makeover in Mahosheni. And we believe that that is exactly what has started in Mahosheni. We stayd with the family in their very primitive village. 10 Girls in one rondavel with a chicken laying on eggs, and after the first day the “ mamma” decided that we need a fresh dungfloor! This same lady,Bongi, was also the one cooking for us and also ended up being the one translating for us when we shared the gospel. She is the daughter of the headman. After the 3rd time translating she realised that she also want to be serious about Jesus and she gave her life to Christ and was also baptised and filled with the Spirit yesterday. Praise the Lord. We had the oportunity to share the gospel with many Xhosa people in surrounding villages. We were suprised to find most of them has never heard of Jesus and what He did. In the whole area that we covered there were only one person with a xhosa Bible. We were also able to finish the vegetable tunnel and a proper longdrop. We built the rondavel for the people with endstage aids and got halfway. We also started on a stone clinic.
Coffe Bay Christian School:FENCE OF LOVE AND JABULANI PARK:
We were blessed to finish the fence around the school and also put in a gate. We could emediatly see the3 dissapointment in the cows eyes when they couldn't come in to feed anymore. This is important since the cows brought in alot of ticks and made it unsafe for the children to play outside. They can also now start with a vegetable garden. One of the highlights was prayerwalking around the school each morning. With extra hands and skills we were able to fix the leaking roofs and stabalised a falling building that gets battered by the wind.
The Lord was faithful and we were also able to finish the Jabulany park after starting of slowly because of a lack of material and tools, but God provided in everything and more! Our jungle jim has the best ocean view ever.
We had the oportunity to give new shoes to the children. We shared the gospel, washed their feet and they looked beautiful in their new shoes. In the afternoons we had children's ministry and were so privilaged to pray and worship with the them every night.
