God, loving through us...!

I had no idea where to start writing...there is so much that happened in this first month of training...God's story, our challenges, celebrations, Veritas Bible course or even just our own life stories...but the golden thread through it all was without a doubt God's Spirit at work...    We had a teaching on sharing the gospel to a world in need and taking God's Word to strangers around us. The afternoon we were divided into teams of three to seek God's heart for specific people...In our team we saw a Venter-trailer, red skinny jeans and a sad woman sitting next to a...

Speechless in Barbados...

Speechless in Barbados...
God came and met me in Barbados in a way that left me without words...the God that created colour, Who breathed and dreamed in colour deposited His colour into my being and made me live life the colourful way...

Who said that God cannot move mightily in today’s High Schools???

Last week we had our small groups in Global Leadership Academy, like we had every Tuesday and Thursday the last month or so...but this was no ordinary Tuesday... The six girls in my group and I chatted about the Holy Spirit and about how there’s so much more available than what we are usually satisfied with...that if letting Jesus into your life, just to get to heaven, is like receiving a book, then being led by His Spirit is like opening that book just to find there’s a receipt for a brand-new Ferrari in it!!! I shared that only when...

God of the unfit and ordinary

The empty streets of Bethlehem were filled with a quiet novelty that danced in the gentle orange splashes as the sun rose over the birth town of my Saviour. I made may way to the specific spot that He led me to a few mornings ago - turning away from the steeple of the beautiful Nativity church and vibrant Manger square... walking in the opposite direction toward a viewpoint on the corner of busy street. He led me through an average neighbourhood toward an average street to spend time with Him, while looking over the roof of a seemingly average...

Guatemala Challenge

Guatemala Challenge
Challenge day in Panajachel, Guatemala...   It is lunch time and as we came to sit down, Jean, very brave and confident in his Spanish speaking skills, saidÑ ¨Perro, por favor¨ . For those of you that is not familiar with the language... he ordered a ¨plate of dog meat¨ for us!!! The poor waitress´ face - PRICELESS!!!!  In this first couple of hours of our challenge the new Pink team  (Jean, Jansie and Luiza) has taken pictures of nearly 70 tuk-tuks, 10 different nationalities and  3 soccer fields. We have seen the volcano and made a human tower in...

Distand Worlds Team: Deported from Colombia!!!

Monday, as we were eating our delicious hamburger~supper, Tom and Eunice (two of the missionaries at the base in Fusa) came running in, panic~stricken faces! "There was a news flash just now!!! All tourists must immediately leave Colombia! The bus is coming to pick you up in 45 minutes!!!!" Wow!! For a moment we just sat there, staring at each other, not knowing what's going on...and then we jumped up! Within 10 minutes our backpacks were packed, chaos everywhere! Our hosts asked if we want to let our parents know or just inform prayer support before we leave for Bogota,...

The Living Proof

"Prove to me that your God is not dead!"     The straight forward, nearly aggressive demand of the stranger in the shopping center kept ringing through my ears... Who are you to claim that your god is the only True God, the only Living God?! You have the Bible, I have the Koran, you have faith, I have science. Prove to me that what you believe is the Truth! My insides cringed for a moment, my all too cozy corner of inferiority and self belittlement called out in the sweetest of voices, reminding me of exactly how far my...

"Will you allow Me?"

"Will you allow Me?"
During the last few weeks of our training in Jefferys Bay the Lord kept repeating one spesific phrase into my heart: "Jans, will you allow Me..." Friday, on my way back to Bloemfontein, the Lord once again asked me this simple question: "Will you allow Me?" as I walked into the airplane...will I allow Him... to what? I took my Bible and notebook with me, planning to catch up on some journalling, on this 90minute flight, well that was clearly not His plan... I spent the whole flight, simply listening, as the guy next to me shared his story with...

The Culture Shock of getting used to the things I used to be used to...

The Culture Shock of getting used to the things I used to be used to...
Yes, I know that we are in Barbados at the moment, but please understand that I'm posting my blog on Guyana only now... I'm one of those little-by-little, retro-spect prosessing people. And I found that the nicest pictures, while traveling in a buss, train, aeroplane, car or donkey cart are taken when you turn around to capture the beautiful scenes that you've already passed.  So here is a glimps or two of those turn-around memories that I've taken from Guyana... Guyana...I KNOW, I didn't know that a country with that name existed, either,  so don't feel too bad! Just like...

What I have always dreamt of...

I have always wanted to change the world! Ever since I can remember I have had the crazy dream of making history for God. I wanted to make an impact that is bigger than myself. I wanted to have a legacy that doesn't make sense for an average farm girl from Bloemfontein...I wanted to make a lasting difference, play a significant role in this age that I was born into. And at twenty-three I am closer to that than ever before! I get to be a Worlds Changer of future World Changers! Future History Makers! I see men and women...
