Life like no Other

    In a little town callled Santa Catarina (1 hour's walk from Panajachel), we assisted with a building project for a family we came to love dearly.  They gave their hearts to Christ before we left Panajachel but still need a lot of prayer in their walk to maturity in faith.           

INDIA IMPACT is about to kick off and I probably don't even have to mention the excitement, anticipation and expectations that is whelming up... I, myself, have come to India a few weeks before the group and I've had a wonderful time exploring various parts of the country, visiting friends and being exposed to different kinds of work as well as the realities of living here.  It has truly been a blessed opportunity as I am digging deeper into God's heart for my life and for this nation. Two, almost three full days of traveling takes a lot out of a man and our first night in Mae Sot, we just wanted to sleep.  Before taking us to the house where we would stay, the lovely people at the hospital blessed us with green mango and chilly-salt.  At first a freaky combination, but after the second bite, heavenly. We were taken around the block to our house that is shared with about seven 20-year olds.  They are Karen boys living in refugee camps and are here to study medicine.  They were very curious about their new house mates...

At the beginning of 2006 I travelled for the first time to Guatemala. This was just a few moths after a hurricane hit the town of Panajachel and we found many families without a place to stay.

I have travelled the world. Seen all the sites… but I am constantly confronted with the same question:  “Do I love Christ more?

(I wrote this while we were in Bosnia i Hercegovina in July 2007) 

 

Being faced with some major decisions about my future, a friend has asked me one simple yet complex question:  “What would you do if fear did not influence your choice?”  And of course this question has started one of those major thinking cycles in my head.

What a joyful experience... 

Buying "mielies" on the streets of China, who would've thought? First, you need a friendly smile!  But that is not hard to give or to receive in a city where very few people have ever seen a bunch of foreigners sitting around with huge backpacks on the street corner.

A friend of mine has come to know Christ!!

Exactly a year ago we met a young man travelling through China! He blessed us in so many ways and we really became great friends! Through building a close friendship we were able to share our faith with him.

We dared to face the accusations of many; serve the poor; listen to the broken hearted and wipe the tears of the widows.  With broken hands and feet we have become builders of homes and builders of God’s Kingdom in Red Hill.
