God Provides

Clara and her

14 February 2008 - Red Hill

Yesterday we said that we can’t wait to see what God was going to do today. Nothing of course prepared us for what happened.
We had already spent almost R40 000 on material for the township and needed to spend about another R30 000 to get most of the residents of the ground.
A lot of the money spent we hadn’t received yet but came from our budget which is suppose to go for different projects.
This morning as we started our day Floyd invited all of us to listen to the Holy Spirit and hear what amount he is laying on our hearts to give. Because we first have to open our hearts before we can expect others to give.

ONE!

5 May 2008, KL, Malaysia - Sulene

Ephesians 4:1-16

"There is ONE body and ONE Spirit... ONE hope... ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism, ONE God and Father of all" - ONE who is over all and through all and in all!

Our theme for this month of ministry in Malaysia and Thailand is THE BODY OF CHRIST!  We are asking God to stretch our minds and challenge our actions as He teaches us on this.  During our time here so far, we have also had amazing fellowship with different believers and workers and churches.  My prayer is that our walks with them this month may bring both us and them one step closer to God.  May our love and unity be a testimony that invites many more into the Kingdom!

A Church was planted...

ouma-nhokoteni-in-her-new-k.jpg29 April 2008

As I was tightening the last screw on the lock I just put into the door I saw “Ouma Nhokoteni” in the corner of my eye sitting on a chair in her kitchen. She was talking to two ladies I have never seen before in Red Hill.

Moments earlier she invited these two strangers into her new home and made them some fresh tea. Interested in what was going to happen next, I continued to fiddle with the lock.

Special WORD each day

Oom Christopher told us during our course in Zambia that God has a special word for each one of His children each day - a unique word; a word He wants to give to you personally; a "daily bread" kind of word.  The question I was confronted with, was whether or not I am there every single day - asking and listening - to receive and realize that word from God in my life?  I need to confess that too often I am not.  Even though I'm so desperate for it, there are just too many times in my life...

You won't believe this!!

eating-out.jpgDear friends

During our visit to Guatemala last year a man  prayed over me saying that I will live in homes I didn’t own and drive in cars that wasn’t mine.

Now, at the time that sounded crazy and I was most sceptical.

CHINA UPDATE: Current GCX Status

bhudist.jpgThe team has asked me to give you a quick update on their current status in China.

You are all aware of the situation developing between Tibet and the Chinese government… This affected our team in the sense that some of the cities we would’ve visited during this month have now been closed to foreigners and all the teams have moved to a city closer to the Yellow River in Central China.

Beauty for ashes...

Godfrey busy nailing the roof. 13 February 2008 - Red Hill

Today William, one of the residents I’ve been building a relationship with, suddenly said to me: “Your God must be pleased with what you’re doing here.”
Here’s my opportunity I thought. We got into a conversation about God and it came to the point where he said his favourite book in the Bible was Israel. “Israel?” I queried. “I don’t know that book.”
So he took me into his newly built shack (his shack was the very first one after the fire) and showed me his Shona Bible. William is from Zimbabwe and so speaks Shona.
When he showed me the book, Israel, I realised he mistranslated it and he actually meant, Isaiah.

Stand up and walk

jaquilinestefan.jpgIn 2006 we met a young lady, Jacqueline… she wasn’t able to walk or even stand up on her own. After much prayer we left her, trusting that God will continue his work in her.

And after the rain, comes the wind

REBUILDING RED HILLRed Hill, Cape Peninsula

12 February 2008 - There was only one thing that kept the people back from building today: wind.
And the wind was extremely unhelpful.
Each volunteer was covered in a thin layer of black dust by the end of the day, and most were trying to get sand out of their, ears, eyes and mouths. Still the volunteers and the locals kept pushing on, knowing that time and the elements was against them. The sooner a shack is put up, the sooner people can get out of the wind into their own places.
