Life like no Other
The fun and games started when the five Global Challenge X teams were sent up from Pretoria to Zambia in a challenge. It was a tough one to start with and I must admit that I was a little concerned about this but luckily I had great co-workers to make sure I don’t feel too sorry for the team and do send them off.
Red means stop, green means go, but ORANGE means GO, GO, GO!!!
Red Hill, Cape Peninsula
11 February 2008; Today was an important one as the new shacks slowly began to take form in the Red Hill area.
Aided by volunteers the people started putting together the material provided, adding whatever they could find.
One of them was William and his girlfriend Gladys.“I was very angry, sad and disappointed when I saw my burned down house,” says William. He lost literally everything. “I’m a handyman so I had power tools and other appliances in my house. I would value it at R18 000,” he continues.“Now I have to get loans of up to R7000 to rebuild my house.”
For the last three nights William, Gladys and their child would have had no place to sleep if it wasn’t for a certain Mr. JP van Niekerk. A businessman, for whom Gladys has been working the last 17 years, concerned him over them and booked them into a self catering room. Not everybody is that lucky however.

I've been on everyone's case the past week or two to blog and send out newsletters to supporters as I was reminded once again of what an important part of our ministry this is.
It's such an amazing opportunity to testify of God's glory!!!
Dear Family and Friends
I wish you were all here with me during the first month of Global Challenge X – just to hear the amazing testimonies of each individual team member first hand and experience how God is working actively every day. After a great week in Jeffreys Bay with the leadership family - hiking the straining but beautiful Harkerville - we had a wonderful preparation week at Alabanza, Pretoria with the entire team.
Here God already poured out His mercies and we experienced His presence, His calling, His guidance and his good and perfect and pleasing will for those who follow Him. He pointed out principles to live by for us as a team, invited us to “service our vessels” and “fill up”, comforted parents, brought a father to Christ, appointed the five different teams and confirmed that each one of us were exactly where He wanted us to be.
If anyone should ask me how GCX08 ended up at FCE’s six week disciple equipping course in the middle of Zambia, my answer would be…
“It is all GOD - our Father who orchestrated this whole thing! The One who called us and who set us apart.
I recently again read this piece by John Stott and would love to share it with you…
“We see with our minds eye the three thousand million unevangelized peoples of this world, who have had no real opportunity to respond to the gospel; the poor, the hungry and disadvantaged; people crushed by political, economic or racial oppression… We see these things: Do we not care?
