Home away from home

Before I enter a new country I have this picture in my mind about what to expect and what life will be like in that country. New Zealand, as the first first-world country we visited, I imagined to be be this perfect life. I imagined strongholds way different than Asia. Strongholds like materialism and money. Faces of light

Two stars shining brightly as if with a mission to light up the world and a love radiated from a heart that loves with God's love. Beyond that, a smiling kid that's guick to grab your hand in an eternal friendship grasp, tugging you away to show you her room... As we we're preparing to depart for India, the above wasn't what I was expecting at all.  My mind's eye was preparing me to see starving kids living on the streets, begging and desperately searching for food. Starving people living between heaps of trash, hoping against hope for a better future....

The dominating religion in Thailand is Buddhism, and because of all the foolish offerings and worship to Buddha, the future and hope of this nation lies within the children.

Deep within the poverty of Thailand, where families are struggling to provide enough food and not all the children can go to school, the streets are lined with spirit houses. The sun is reflecting off the gold statues and it is surrounded with bright coloured flags...
