Indonesia made me feel welcome from the moment I walked out of the airport. They use some words that we use in Afrikaans, so I felt asif I entered a place like home. That is really what Indonesia became! Home. If I look at the overall picture, it would seem asif we had the same schedule everyday. Okay, we kinda did, but that was one of the things that made the experience more like what I am use to. In the mornings we went to a school (there were a few, so we switched between them) to share a...

"We must be known for hope for the day we live in, as the purposes of God are always great. He will do everything needed, according to His promises for His victorious bride." - Bill Johnson If God doesn’t build the house, the builders only build shacks. If God doesn’t guard the city, the night watchman might as well nap. It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late, and work your worried fingers to the bone. Don’t you know He enjoys giving rest to those He loves? (Psalm 127:1-2 MSG) It takes wisdom to build a house,...
I know you're probably thinking that this is such a strange heading for a blog, well yes it is but it was a word i got for Nepal and on top of that it gets me super excited to write about ;) Just like when you rowing through the rapids of rough waters and it feels like a battle seemingly IMPOSSIBLE to over come.. This is similar to what i experienced in Nepal in terms of our street ministry there.( except that Jesus is way more powerful than anything we encountered).. Everywhere my eyes glanced there were idols that people...
Expecting the unexpected is quite easy when you have no expectations to begin with. It also leaves a lot of room for you to be awed around every corner. And that is exactly what happened in Nepal. From the very moment we stepped off the plane the adventure of not knowing what would happen next, began. After we spent quite some time to sort out an unexpected visa situation, we were greeted by Pastor Padam and Rudra, our Nepali hosts, with welcoming scarves and big warm smiles- a taste of what would be two weeks of heart-warming hospitality. We really...
At first glance you won't think that Kathmandu has so much locked up in itself. It's a poor city with many rich people. Our time in Nepal was spectacular! Oh, turquoise team! During training we could see that Jesus placed us all in this particular mini team for a reason. We just had to wait and see when and why.. Let me introduce you to the turquoise team, just in case you need to hear from us again :) Drumroll... Madelein, Chanelle, Annique, Anseri, Quinton and Coetzee. When I started off thinking about writing...
I know that God is going to challenge me during this year and I know that I am going to experience a lot of things. India was our first country and there we worked hard and afterwards we would have childrens' ministry. I was not challenged by the heat at all, in fact we had great weather. I was challenge physically because of the long working hours. I got to know God as the One who listens to me... He hears my prayers! Nepal was a time of rest. God spoiled me in many ways and I got to experience...
In Nepal Northbound divided into two groups : purple and turquoise. Arno, Willemien, Miga, Vanessa and Jade are in the purple team, and this blog is about what we as small team experienced. God sent us to a family that supports an orphanage with 15 boys. Due to a medical operation the host underwent, they could give as much of their attention to us, so we supported them instead. By supporting them God taught us how to bless people with kindness and care. Just before Nepal God gave Jade and Arno word: "expect the unexpected," and did He surprise us...
God blew me away in Nepal. On the airport we had to pay $25 per person for our visas. We did not budget for this kind of money. Now, for a team with just enough money to survive in a country, this is not good news. I could see that our team became worried for the whole budget went into our entry of Nepal. I on the other hand got excited to experience how God is going to work as the God who provides... kinda Luke 10 but not officially one. For Nepal we devided into our two teams (I...
