Ai Jai Thai! (wYw)

Today was definitely one of the toughest days of wYw 2011 thus far.  It started at 5 am with quiet time, some worship, cleaning and packing.  We met Ps Silvanus after this and went into town for our final meal together.  It consisted of egg roti (Indian bread) served with a side dish of curry sauce.  India seems to stick to our group.  This was washed down with a coffee, iced tea or milo. Ps Silvanus mentioned that Henro’s sermon of last night was good and the alter call had a few people recommit their lives to the Lord.  We...

Into The Wild!! (wYw)

Into The Wild!! (wYw)
Day five started very slowly as last night our room was, as Welman stated, like a primary school rugby tour.  We stayed up late telling ghost stories in the dark… and then everyone had to go to the bathroom together like a bunch of… uhm… girls.   Last evening Bernard spoke at the women’s gathering.  Being a guy, this was quite a daunting task, but God came through and gave Him the necessary words.  The message was on the compassionate God we serve and how He looks after us because we are His children. De Necker then had the men to preach...

Taking notes from an experienced campaigner! (wYw)

Taking notes from an experienced campaigner! (wYw)
Today felt like a real Cape Town winters day.  We woke up at 06h30 with the sound of rain on the roof… and it was still dark outside.  Welman and De Necker were loving this and missing their Cape homes very much.   Last night we arrived in the little town of Langkap and because Ps Silvanus was busy ministering, we took the 30 – 40 min walk to the village where he stays.  He put us up in a large room and we even got mattresses and pillows.  What a blessing.  Last year’s team slept on straw mats, so this...

Blessed Travels! (wYw)

Blessed Travels! (wYw)
Today was our first real travel day on this leg of our journey.  After a 6 am wakeup, corporate prayer, packing and cleaning, we left Reggae Backpackers.  We only found out that today that Adam, the landlord, is also a Christian and we had a quick chat with him and blessed him before leaving. We decided to travel light and left all our big bags in storage.  No sleeping bags, warm clothes or any luxuries.  Just the necessities.  We took a train to get out of the city and started hitch hiking.  At this point we split into 2 groups...

Day 2: Final day in KL (wYw)

“Bleep, bleep, bleep” is all that we are hearing from a very upset Frenchman in the lobby of the backpackers that we are currently staying.  He is busy booking flights online.  I think it’s his visa or something.  Ja, the joys of travelling the world.  Luckily our day was not as temperamental. We awoke to the sounds of Monday morning traffic outside our 3rd floor rooms.  Everyone stretched out of the fetus position to start the day in the Word.  After this we had corporate prayer where we prayed for our loved ones at home and people that need healing.  Wisdom...
