It has truly been another blessed day at Work Your Way. We got up early as usual to have some quite time spent with God. Welman and Philip(who is convinced his stomach is starting to grow at a way to rapid pace) also decided it is about time to go for a jog with Tobi around a beautiful lake. De Necker, Freddy and Henro sat at the lake and read the Holy Bible, while Angelo and Bernard were kind enough to stay at home and wash the dishes aswell. For breakfast we had probably the most famous Global Challenge meal,...

What a blessed day here in Phuket. We started with quiet time in the garden close to Tobi’s house. Through scripture and the movie “Time Changer” that we watched last night, God showed us that we have become so used to sin around us, that we do not even recognize it anymore. Respect for elders, respect for women and worst of all, respect for God has gone out the door. Everything is okay these days, not so bad. If it is “not so bad”, isn’t it still bad? Spiritual food… check. Cornflakes… check. We were off to the shopping centre for...
This morning was tough to get up because we only got to bed way past midnight. Peter and Marita took us to the bar that they run and to show us some of the Phuket night life. This was a true eye opener all of us. At the bar we each enjoyed a sundae and watched Djokovic win his round match with ease. We enjoyed chatting to Peter and Marita and could share about each others’ cultures and languages. They are both wonderful people and love to enjoy good company. I must say, our stay in Karon Beach was an...
God is faithful! This is all that I can say after what happened last night. Henro and Welman were out with the scooters when they ran into some Aussies down at the beach. Apparently the one guy commented on Welman’s hair by shouting “Napoleon Dynamite”… some might find this funny. Welman laughed (he found it funny) and they started chatting with them. The end result was sharing of the Good News to the lost and they blessed us with 2000 Baht in return. God is good. We had the morning to catch up on some backed up journaling, emailing and...
The team was quite slow to wake this morning at 06h30. This was the result of a late night because of a little night swimming… if you know what I mean. There are definitely advantages to being an all boys team. After the usual routine of quiet time, prayer and breakfast (2-minute noodles and coffee) we had a reflection session. De Necker urged the guys to go to their journals and to reflect on their expectations for the year. Which have come to pass and which are still to be dealt with? How have we grown, where are the areas...
(Hi everyone! This blog was suposed to be posted yesterday, but due to some unforeseen circumstances we are only able to post it today.) We are in Phuket!! If you wondered why there was no blog yesterday, it was because we travelled and only arrived late in Phuket. Stephan and the people that we stayed at in Hatyai blessed us tremendously with accommodation, but it was more than just a bed, Stephan actually moved out of his flat for a day or two just to accommodate us. We will be forever thankful for his hospitality. A songtou (a bakkie with...
And we’re back! There is a buzz of excitement in the camp as everyone is once again reunited after the Luke 10 journeys. Please note that we won’t be giving much feedback on the journeys now, but extensive feedback-blogs will follow in the days to come. Everyone is on such a spiritual high after experiencing God 1st hand for more than a week. Not that we do not experience Him during other times, but as you can imagine, relying on God for everything you need takes a huge amount of faith and it keeps on growing. Those of you who...
Two, almost three full days of traveling takes a lot out of a man and our first night in Mae Sot, we just wanted to sleep. Before taking us to the house where we would stay, the lovely people at the hospital blessed us with green mango and chilly-salt. At first a freaky combination, but after the second bite, heavenly. We were taken around the block to our house that is shared with about seven 20-year olds. They are Karen boys living in refugee camps and are here to study medicine. They were very curious about their new house mates...
There we were at the bus station in Nakhon Sawan with 3 tickets to Mae Sot and money to spare. We were overjoyed, but that still didn’t solve another problem… we have not had a wash in almost 2 days and in the humidity of Thailand, well, you would not want to sit next to us on that bus. Luckily in this part of the world they do not use western toilets. They have those “gat-in-die-grond” toilets with a bucket with water and a scoop next to it. We each picked a cubicle and our bodies soaked up the fresh,...
The last time you heard from me was when we were at Stephan’s place in Hatyai in the south of Thailand. Since then so much has happened. I shall try to keep it short as I run you through Angelo, Henro and De Necker's adventures. Sunday the 8th marked the start of our Luke 10. That meant that for the duration of the journey we had no access to personal or team money, no extra clothes than those that we were wearing and no plan. We did have Bibles, toothbrushes, passports, I took the computer for blogging purposes and I...
