Peru is divided in three different climates: Rainforest, dessert & Ocean and mountains - the Andes. We spent one month in Peru. As well as different the climates are so are the people and the ways people live. In no other country we had so many ministry opportunities. I remember one day in one of the villages in the Andes: 3 School visits, later children programm in a park and then in the evening evangelism in a public place. That's a good example of how packed the time in Peru was. Additional it was cold, we couldn't sleep much and some of us felt sick. Our bodies were weak. But God is saying:" My grace is all you need, for my Power is greatest when you are weak" (2.corinthians12; 9) :-) We had the perfet conditions to see that verse coming true! And it did. For example on that day mentioned above, we experienced God's power working through our weaknesses: Children in the school shared open to us about problems in their families in order to pray for, more then 8 of them gave their life to Jesus, one of them was so touched by the Holy Spirit that she couldn't stop crying, in the night God touched many more people's hearts and many got healed. Praise God! This was just one of the days where our bodies were very weak and God's power very big. At a other place on a other day I had fever and was not sure if I'm going to make it through the day, but in faith I went and God really gave me the strength which was necessary. A member of the local church showed us around in the city, called "cusco" until we reached small souvenir markets, where we could spend some time and buy souvenirs. As we were looking around I got to talk to a shop owner who wanted to sell her big wool sweatshirt to me. I explained to her that I would not be able to carry it, there isn't enough space in my bag. So I continued to talk about our journey and shared how God provided for us. She was Catholic and somehow she got touched by a story about God providing for us. Instead of trying to sell something to Thulani, Emanuel and me, she gave everyone of us a hat. God changed something in her heart. To say thank you, we prayed for her. The presence of the Holy Spirit was perceptible. Afterwards she shared with us how happy she is. I believe God did something great on her life. He gave her new faith and hope. Later in the evening we went to a pastor's family to encourage each other. We shared testimonies of God's goodness, worshipped together and finally prayed for each other. One of the women asked for prayer, we surrounded her and started to pray. God's power manifested, she started to cry and fall on her knees. God poured out his love on her. All this happened while the most us were tired , felt sick and just wanted to go home and sleep. But God is good and he uses us in our weakness to glorify his name and to show his unfailing love!ÂÂ
One thing we definitely can learn out of that is not to get destructed, but to rejoice about our weaknesses, knowing that God's Power works best.
Be blessed!
