It has now been more than three weeks in Guatemala and what a wonderful time it has been. Arriving in Guatemala we traveled to Panajachel where we would spend all our time in Guatemala.
This is a small tourist type town right next to the huge Atitlan Lake, surrounded by volcanoes and mountains. With friendly Maya/Spanish people, great food and just a really relaxed island kind of feeling in the air! God also blessed us with a great Hotel/House where the whole team stays. This is really great as this is our first time since Zambia that the whole team has been together for ministry.
Our first two weeks were spent in the town of Santa Catarina where we spent our time in constructing a house for a family. This town is about 5km from Panajachel so it was really easy to get there, with some of us walking, others jogging and whenever we could some of us would catch a free lift with the locals.
It was amazing to spend every day on the mountain building the house with such a great view, we could only thank God for how awesome He is and how beautiful the world is that He created!
After the house was finished we had a few days to spend in the community just looking for places to help out, people to pray for and evangelize as God led us. We also helped out at a local school to finish a new part of the school that they were constructing.
We also had a great camping trip this weekend. It all started of with a 30min bout trip across the lake to one of the great beaches right at the foot of the San Pedro volcano. Just spending some time with the people from the church, our group and God. Really just having some time off to relax. In this time the pastor also shared his testimony with us. This is probably the most powerful testimony I have every heard. Just to hear where he came from and how God came and took him out of Darkness, healing him, delivering him from all the strongholds on his life and using him for the Light.
Not only do we spend our time in construction and the community but we also spend every evening with the pastor and the church. Here we receive teachings and just spend time talking about God and the supernatural. It is really great; as God did not only heal the pastor supernaturally but also delivered him from a long live involved in Satanism. Thus it is really great to be challenge in other ways than we have been so far this year, as well as receiving teachings of the supernatural and the like.
This is our last week in Guatemala and due to the fact that our plans for this week with one of the schools across the lake did not really work out we will spend some more time in the community.
Next week we will set out on a Luke 10 journey into Mexico for 10 days! Please pray for us that God will lead out team into all of Mexico. That He will go out ahead and prepare the people that we have to meet up with and send us where He wants us to go to.
