Day 1 - Orange Team

3 busses, 5 lifts and 5 taxi's!!!!....
Orange Team is Go - Go - Go!!!!

Praise the Lord! He provided LITERALLY every step of the way.
We never had to stress or to something extra-ordinary, but just believe!!!
God works best when we are weak, and that was our story the whole trip.

Monday night we heard that we had our first challenge, to get to Zambia before Friday the 25 January.

We were all very excited because we had so much to see, learn and discover on our journey to here.
We left at 6 o’clock on Tuesday morning, just after checking to see if we had packed everything!
We joined an alliance with the yellow team and started of to Hartebeestpoortdam, or Ifafi as it is known.
We walked for more than a kilometre and then finally got a taxi, all ten of us in one taxi!!!!! That was a sight to remember.
We started the day with prayer and God just took over from that second, taking away every worry and anxiety.
We had to raise R2000 before we could start the race, and we prayed. We made banners and began to "blikskud" in Hartebeestpoortdam.
There we raised +-R2800 in less than 2 hours. Now, just for background information, it was the end of the month, and nobody had received their monthly pay jet.
Also, the schools had just begun, so everyone had to pay fees and other expenses. God blesses us by sending one couple. That couple gave us R1000!!!
We all rejoiced, and I literally danced in the streets of joy!!! Then, just 10-15 minutes later the same couple returned to bless us with another R1000!!!
They said they didn’t know why, but God said they had to give it to us, and that His favour rests heavily on us!!!!
We were really blessed!!!!!

We then had to make copies of pour passports, and certify them. We did it, and we received free internet at a cafe.
The best of all, we did all what we had to do in time before the power went out.

We got a free lift to Rustenburg, and after a long session on a open back "bakkie" for 60km, we reached Rustenburg. There we waited for another lift to Zeerust.
After some 2 hours in Rustenburg, we wanted to raise more funds. We raised R30, but then the 3 of us, Paul, Marissa and Herman, decided simultaneously but silently that we must stop.
The first bakkie we saw, we knew that that was our lift. We walked to the bakkie, and we asked, and again God provided!!!
The lift to Zeerust was long, but so good!!! We slept like babies!!! The woman then bought us food, and wanted to provide us with shelter for the night, as well as a lift to Botswana border.
We declined, wanting to go over the border before nightfall.
We didn’t wait 5minutes, then a lorry passed by. We signalled, and it stopped. We asked for a lift, and they said:" jump in!!".
We loaded all our gear onto the lorry, and just before finishing, a SUV stopped beside the lorry.
That man jumped out and said that he was going to Gabarone, and he would take us there!!!!! We were so glad.
We were in Gabarone at 8pm. That man is Philip, a good man, who helped us a lot. He exchanged our money for us and got a very good rate. He then organised our bus and paid for it.
We were amazed.

The bus started, and of we went!!!

That was day one!!!!
