Ietsie om oor huis toe te skryf...(in English)
By Marcel & Marizel Doing our bit to add flavour to Global challenge 2009 (wish we could add real tastes and smells too!) :-) Welcome everyone to the first of our new series called "Ietsie om oor huis toe te skryf...". This directly translated from Afrikaans to English means "Something to write home about..." and the inspiration came when experiencing something so life changing, we really felt inclined to write home about it and share with the people at home, so... here's our guava juice and later on mango juice experience* Not so long ago (3 days to be exact)...

Chuckit, wingit or Malaysian Ringet

Chuckit, wingit or Malaysian Ringet
Welcome to Malaysia! Southbound is still on our way to Thailand however we also seem to be finding ourselves on challenge in Malaysia! Two very eager and excited expedition leaders handed the team leaders our envelopes with the tasks for our challenge with sunrise this morning. We only arrived in Malaysia yesterday coming from Israel and Cairo and by letting us challenge in and around Kuala Lumpur and to Thailand was definitely a very exciting and comprehensive way to help us see the wonderful city and sights, taste the culture, meet the people, pray and spend some Ringets (Malaysia's currency)....

Faith and Fried Rice...

Faith and Fried Rice...
"There are few things more exhilarating than venturing out with no better option than to trust and then finding the Object of your trust worthy of it! The act of trusting forges a strong and powerful memory of the kind of grand adventure that comes only from letting go" Venturing out and trusting is what five of us South-bound members decided to do last week. We arrived in Thailand a week ago, with ministry set up for us here and more than enough of that to keep us busy and eliminate too many off-times. So when we did get time-off, Pieter...

HUANG DUI: repentance = usefulness in China!

Since our arrival here in China almost three weeks ago, the Yellow Team (Huang Dui) already have much to report on and share from our hearts! Our team is healthy, excited, unified and humble in order to be used. We travelled from small town to small town for the past while and we did not not have any set program, fixed contact or set-up ministry as a 'what-to-do' so we had to pray about what to do in each town and to meet the right people. During this time we realised, individually and as a team, that we could not be...

Yellow Team Travels (Part 2)

Yellow Team Travels (Part 2)
So, without further due... here is what happened on the rest of the Yellow team's challenge... as we promised! After putting up our previous blog, we left Kuala Lumpur at 24:00 that morning, on our way to the Thailand border, still on mission: get to Phuket and pitch our tents on Nai Yang beach. We travelled there 7 hours and crossed the border at 07:00 without any delays. First stop in thailand was Hat Yai,  a town aproximately 10km from the border post. Wewere very excited to finally be home 9well not quite yet) to our home for the next...

Egypt: the in's and outs

Hey all our Yellow Team fans :-) A lot has happened since the last time we spoke...we pick up then where we left off! Anafora (25 Feb - 2 Mar) was loaded with some study and learning time but we also see it as a huge privilege that we had to ease into the Egyptian culture by being introduced to it in all its various forms, although secluded in the sense that we were looked after by our hosts and ot in the city as such. Great preparation for Cairo with its 26 Million (according to the locals) people living there!...
