Everything that the Holy Spirit taught me just during our first week in São Paulo, Brazil, can be condensed into that one sentence: God doesn't need Google Translate. He really doesn't!
I learned, from amazing personal experiences, that the Holy Spirit is my translator when I get lost in translation. He is not limited by language barriers simply because I am! All I need to do is love people. And the beautiful thing is this: love is a universal language and does not need a translator, because love speaks louder than words. The world will know who Jesus is by our love, not our vocabulary. God challenged me with the truth that, as His children, we must love people so largely that no small words are needed! The love of Jesus cannot be contained in our brain jars, but must be spilled out of our heart jars.
How amazing it was to see God touch the hearts of so many people we prayed for in English, even though they couldn't understand a single word we said! There really is so much power in the name of Jesus! I experienced a finite taste on earth of what Heaven is like infinitely. We were attending a church service one Sunday morning - oh, what a glorious day to hear people praising our King in Portuguese, English, and Afrikaans, all at the same time! God's Kingdom came down on earth as it is in Heaven. How great is the love of our Father poured out on us, that we should be called the children of God!
Any words I speak out of myself might get lost in translation, but the word of God never - and He promises NEVER - returns to Him void when we speak only what the Holy Spirit wants to say, through us, to people (Isaiah 55: 11).
I am so thankful that the love of Jesus is not withheld by our speechless tongues, but shared through our speaking hearts. God is extraordinarily faithful, and to Him alone be all blessing and glory and honor and power forever! Amen!
