Have you ever thought what your reaction would be if you were to live in biblical times, or if you were to meet up with someone from that time?
For the last three weeks we have had the crazy privilege of spending time with an Ezekiel, a John of our times... and no, my reaction was not as "godly" as I thought it would be. my first thought was: "Are you serious? This guy?! Is this the amazing man of God? He looks crazy!!" :)
And so this "crazy man" challenged everything I see as truth and asks me to sift it all not by what I am able to understand or even know, but by the Holy Spirit and God's Word. He sends us out into a storm of rain and tells us to tell the rains to stop and when it should start again - because we have the same spirit living inside of us that use to operate in Elijah. At first I laughed like Sarah did in unbelief - but when the rain actually stopped and started exactly when I said... My idea of faith was tested. And the rain did not stop because of my faith, but because of His faithfulness.
He goes out to the witches cave, and no, not the broom-flying ones, the real-life people ones who are being just as deceived as the drunkard, addict, thief or you and I... We are to go into the darkest places because we have light living inside of us. They are people just like you and I - people in desperate need of LOVE and TRUTH - in desperate need of Jesus.
This man of God I saw as totally insane is the same one who use to be a satanist, run brothels, tattoo parlours and got his wife, who was a witch just to have her stab him in the heart, cut through his main arteries and leave him in a locked room to die... How easily we judge. How easily we forget the power of God's grace. Now this man is the one who fasted for 7years just for God to save Him from law and draw him into a constant fast of mercy and grace like in Isaiah. How arrogant are we to think we can save ourselves through our works. This same man that loves people with all he is and gives all he has to share the mind-blowing news of Jesus that sets people free!!!
So yes, the next time you think about what you would do when you meet Jesus, Moses or whoever, be realistic - somewhere most of us became Pharisees through what we believe. Trying to fit things into what makes sense. Trying to make more rules, because just knowing God is too easy...
