This blog will be my attempt to explain what happen the last 7 weeks of training, seeing as I don't journal I'll try my best...
Training: January 11 - 28 February
Welcoming
Our first weekend it felt like meeting family for the first time, everyone was super exited and full of expectations!! We were welcomed as if we landed at an airport and had to book in our luggage and have our passports ready. I soon after got to meet everyone that is doing the Work Your Way journey, Geoff - our group leader, Quinton, Vilandré, Roan - but he had to change journeys later on, and me - Mulder. The rest of the weekend we had a volleyball competitionand a J-Bay challenge where we had a race like on the Amazing Race.

Sunday we had time to get to know everyone in the Global community and the evening we had 'church'. The Global community call 'church' Celebration, because it's a celebration every time Christians come together, celebrating the victory we have in Christ. |
Week 1
The first week we started with D-groups (debrief), discussing different topics and working our way through a book called The Calvary Road, that book is filled with revelation on revelation, a must read!! And we also went on a surprise survivor challenge, where we spent 3 nights sleeping in the woods. Seeing as we are the 'Work Your Way' team and long since died to our desires for comfort, we felt right at home. We built the most awesome shelter ever and when we were hungry because we didn't win enough food at a challenge we just caught some crabs and a catfish in the river. But we soon realized that the whole challenge wasn't just a physical challenge but a challenge of character as well... When we finished Friday with survivor we immediately got ready for a school camp that the GLA High School had for the weekend where we helped facilitat games and activities.
Week 2
The second week we moved to a caravan park and got to use our tents for the first time :D!! We had sessions with Anna-Marie where she shared the God story with us and we talked on that how we met Jesus is actually still God's story. Our team also had an awesome prayer session where we prayed and prophesied over each other.
Week 3
The third week we had sessions with Willem where he teached us how to tell our testimonies in terms that 'every day' people can understand. We also learned how to approach random people and start preaching the gospel...
We then went and did some 'treasure' hunting, treasure hunting is when you ask God to send you images, names or basically anything you can use to help you find someone God wants to 'touch' or wants you to pray for. The testimonies that came out of that 'little' adventure... WoW!! You get this almost overwhelming feeling when you walk up to someone, but when you are willing... BOOM!!! God shows up!!! During that same week we prayed for our team's finances an did this cool personality test The weekend Piet-Fraans came and BLASTED open a few doors talking on how we and a lot of Christians of today are still living under law. Also talking a lot on what law 'looks' like and what grace actually is. He also told us that we sould live in victory and remind ourself that we are not under law anymore, to just give over to Jesus coz he knows what He's doing. Isn't that just awesome news, my feet were knoked out from under me with that revelation and took me awhile to make that revelation my own. I ended up finding my feet again!!- Tall Tree. |
Week 4
Week 4 we started exegesis. Exegesis is a teaching on how to work through a passage and get to the root message of that passage, it also teaches on how to preach and so forth. The weekend we had to ourselves where we stayed at Vilandre's uncle and aunt till the Sunday before we would start working on the school site of GLA in the new week.
Week 5
Sjoe this was a tough week, physically!! GLA is a the only high school in Jeffey's Bay and the school was sponsored grounds to build a school, seeing as the school is now in a empty wing of a mall. We had to dig holes for the foundations for the next 3 Log Homes that they are building on the new school grounds, the Log Homes will be accommodation for the student's and teachers. If you want to invest in the future... GLA is a very good investment!! Go and check out everything there is to know about GLA!!
Week 6
Uncle Gerrie came and teached us about the Holy Spirit!!! Mind Blowing, a lot of us or maybe everyone received the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues and prayed over and for each other!! It was amazing and soooo uplifting!! He teached until the Tuesday and 'on Wednesday our Luke 10 journey started... A Luke 10 journey is a journey by faith and in my next blog I will talk in detail what happened and of how God 'showed up'!!!
We're now finishing our 8th week and on Tuesday next week we will be of to the Nations!!! Excitement!!!!!
