TURKEY-DIGGING DEEP

TURKEY-DIGGING DEEP
We arrived in Turkey after our time in Jordan on our way to meet up with Esther. The month in Turkey consisted of two days in Istanbul, two weeks in Kusidasi, a week on the road and then a week in Cappadocia. Turkey started with a bang! The first day in Istanbul was an amazing experience; we had a treasure hunt*...and we found treasure for sure. Lisa and Arne met a guy that we could encourage and that really inspired us; hopefully we can see him again before we fly out of Istanbul. Through meeting this guy I realised that...

Moving, Changing, New Beginnings - China

Moving, Changing, New Beginnings - China
My time in China started a bit different than some of my other team members. The moving crew  (Me, Madelein, Miga and Coetzee) helped our contact's family to move to a new house for the first five days. We had so much fun, but worked really hard. We actually got "elevator lack", because we went from one building's 10th floor to the other building's 5th floor every day with heavy boxes, in an elevator. Up and down, up and down ! But yes, we are Global Challengers, we can overcome anything... why?? Cause we have Jesus on our sides people !...

My Shocking Suriname experience!

It has been almost four months ago that I had a very interesting and challenging conversation with one of my leaders during the training period for our journey at the beginning of the year. "I want to see big things from God! I want to see amazing miracles happen! Before I come back I want to see some really great things!" - I said to the lovely lady sitting in front of me. And she replied with much wisdom: "What if you don't? Will you still believe?"    That hit me really hard! What if I don't see and...

We are going to China?!

We are going to China?!
China We assume that everything in China is more or less what we imagine it to be, but I guarantee that China is different from the way most people are picturing it. The moment when I think of China I start to think of all the negative things the world has spoken over this incredibly big nation. When you hear China and 1.2 billion people in one sentence, I immediately put on my straight face in disbelief. Our team had the privilege to spend 2 weeks together in Xiahe. We had to take 2 connecting flights of 2 hours each,...

Playing "house-house" in Guyana

"What a beautiful house you have! Did you build it yourself? I think Shaun helped you to build it right?" It is only smiles that comes from the 7 or 8 year old girl sitting in front of the pieces of sink and pieces of material that makes out to be the two beautiful little girls' play house! It is situated between coconut and indigenous trees and bushes in a small town called Timehri, Guyana.    The background of where these two lovely little girls come from is still a mystery to me. But I know that the lady that...

India

21/04/2014 The country where your heart gets torn in two, and your soul cries out “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?".(Matthew 27:46) This Hindu-colony with its pack of gods, “Father, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.”(Luke 23:34) Where colonialism's deep, raw, wounds are still festering and the demonic-gods are indulging them in the hopelessness of this colony's ants. This is indeed an exotic colony, with exotic beings. If I think back to the three weeks I spent in India, I think of a tremendous number of mosquitos, the zooming of lots and lots flies around rotten food,...

Quick Update

JORDAN When I saw the new Journey 'Ancient Paths' that will be going to Jordan it stirred my heart to consider doing the Journey. About a year ago the Holy Spirit inspired me to go and help the Syrian Refugees. He said that He will make a way...and He did. I was surprised when I remembered the word and realised that He actually made it happen. THE CHURCH We arrived in Jordan at the beginning of April. A church in Mafraq that serves the Syrian Refugees hosted us. They give out necessary things like blankets, pillows, matrasses, gas stoves and...

Laos - God is soft and Gentle!

I don't have any words to describe my feelings. I'm so overwhelmed. First I was afraid and didn't know what to expect in Laos, but it turned out pretty good. This two weeks was a journey of patience for me. I spend some time with God to find out what His heart is for me. Then He came and show me that He is going to give me more and more challenges in life and on my journey and that will be the challenges that's going to make me grow closer to Him ! I had some challenges and with...

Challenged by an old man - Laos

Challenged by an old man - Laos
The two weeks in Laos was a bit different than what I expected. The day when we entered Laos, an old man asked me the date, while we were all filling in our forms to cross the boarder. Little did I know that this old man is about to spend the following two weeks with us... A week before we came to Laos, he wanted to go through the gates, but they didn't let him in, so he waited patiently on God to tell him when to go again. So he chose the same day and time as us. God...
