On our arrival in Brazil, the group split in two and the green team being Chris, Daniel, Henk, Curtis, Cherelda, Mari', Kotie-Alet and I had the amazing priviledge to spend a week in 5th largest city of the world: Sao Paulo, the city of vibrant street art, great pasta, a lot of pao (bread) and friendly people. We were welcomed with open arms and from the start it felt like home. We had some time to rest after suffering a bit from jet-lag and just chill out with our hosts. We spent the first few days at a house church, doing...

Kenya I really do not know how I can explain what has happened these past few weeks. To put this into words is quite a challenge for me. Part of our descriptions of traveling this year was to get outside of our comfort zones- so, challenge accepted! Here I go... In Kenya, I received a large slap in the face when I realized level of difficulty was actually a large . It was like a battlefield. An "inner battle" I would call it. I feel like I went through a mid-life crisis- twenty years too early in my life. I...
We just finished our first trip into the Nations... It was an interesting journey because of, for example the Kenyan buses, (Matatu) and all the people who want to sale you stuff all the time because you're a" Mzungu" (white person), the time we had to work with the kids at school, the prayer room we started, etc... But I want to focus my first blog on something different... I think the best challenge I had, was to try to apply what we learned during training into my daily life of team-member from Hidden World... Its a big challenge...
Hello everybody greetings from South America! I've had a fantastic time in Africa and can't wait to come back! So far on the journey I've done my best to really experienced the culture of the people living here and I think I've done well. Being a part of the good team makes this task easier as it allows me to go into the local markets and get the real local experience. Our time in Kenya was very cool there was a range of events we participated in including, helping at a local school, building a prayer room, and constructing a...
"Someone asked will the heathen who have never heard the Gospel be saved?" "Its more a question with me whether we -- who have the Gospel and fail to give it to those who have not -- can be saved." Charles Spurgeon If there is something I can take out of our Africa journey, it would be Gods heart regarding the great commission. The whole of heavens army and all the witnesses are eagerly awaiting on the completion of our mission. The whole time here it felt as if we were being cheered on to complete the race, walking in...
I would love to report the first taste of travelling was a local cusine made by a friendly stranger in the side of the street who couldn't help but allow a friendly 'mzungu' to taste what she was making BUT unfortunately my first taste of travelling was the previous nights dinner :( The excitement, the heat, the heat and did I mention the HEAT got the better of me! You would think 2 years of living in Manguzi would have perpared me for the humidity and heat! So there I was in Legho 'hotel' where of the five rooms 1...
After seven weeks of training our journey started and we left South Africa to discover east Africa. We landed in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, slept there for one night and then travelled by bus to Nairobi, Kenya, the next day. Talk about Africa at its best: the airport in Dar Es Salaam is not a closed building, but just a roof on pillars and it reminds me of a big garage where I would store farming machines in. The shops look like market stalls and every taxi driver in town tried his luck on the wide eyed "muzungus"....
Hey friends and family, you are now going to read my first blog. All I can say is - what an amazing experience, even getting to masaai land was an adventure! 2 days with very diverse forms of travel - air, bus, taxi and a 4 hour bumpy 4x4 drive but it was all worth it. The first 2 days we spent getting to know the land and meeting Maasai, what a wonderful, colourful culture and people group. What a wonderful surprise and blessing when they gave us a lamb spitbraai the Sunday evening - it was like they knew what...
