We set off without any money, any direction and not speaking the language. Some call is courageous, other stupid! I think we still don’t really know what we got ourselves into. It’s been a journey of a life time with a team I’m willing to go around the...

Hi! I am Wynand Nel, a student at the North-west University of Potchefstroom. The Global Challenge has been pressed on my heart since last year, and I know that God is "challenging" me to do it. I am really looking forward to see what God has in store for us on this trip and how He is going to use us to make a difference! Glory to God!

Guatemala - the most difficult country, but also the greatest experience ever! As we were preparing to depart for Guatemala, we knew that there was a hard time lying ahead of us...an ultimate challenge waiting for us. We didn't know what to expect on a spiritual level but we knew that we it was going to be a busy schedule with a combination of hard physical work and a lot of teachings at night. We were prepared for a lack of sleep, but not for what actually happened. As our time in Guatemala started a lot of us were affected...
When we came in for landing at Auckland, New Zeeland the words in Genesis came to mind: “...fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” The New Zealanders sure grasp this. And I thought that even though everyone does not have a relationship with the Lord, we are created in God’s image, and He gave us the knowledge and know how to rule over nature and subdue it without destroying it. Staring out of the small airplane window I...
Never again would Auckland, Maori's, games on the beach or a walk in the woods be seen the same. Not even bungee jumping or kayaking will have the same appeal. This all to thanks to our New Zealand Challenge. And what a challenge it was! We started off with a run along the beach. We headed toward the city and completed various tasks on our way. All along we were motivated by our own personal drill sergeant Prosch. Luckily the view was spectacular and God faithful. Along our way we found very friendly kiwi's more than willing to help...
What a great time I had in Wellington when a few of us Global challengers joined up with Stormco for ministry. Stormco is a New Zealand based ministry for young teens. Stormco is an acronym for Service To Others Really Matters and that's exactly what we did in the week. For the duration of the week we run a kids club in the mornings with the theme Avalanche Ranch, Wah Hoo! Many kids from the community attended the club and we had great fun with them. During the afternoons we would go out into the community and serve them by...
It might be seen as negligent, irresponsible, bad luck, poor admin. We see it as God's divine intervention and an answer to the prayers of little warriors. We were informed that Margot's India visa had expired and she couldn't travel South with the rest of the team and Yellow decided to stick together and stay with our little Miss Prosch. Saturday morning at 6am we waved goodbye to the rest of the team. If you picture 5 sad little faces as a bus pulls away you are wrong. We were half awake and still in bed as they said their goodbyes....
GC leadership has this strange way to give it away. Somehow we always anticipate when a challenge is on its way. It might have something to do with the sly smiles on their faces or how they manage to change a subject when it gets to close for comfort. The India Challenge was no exception! When our lecturer announced that we should close our eyes and listen carefully, Ann and Anthony could hardly contain themselves. One can hardly blame them, they knew what was ahead and this challenge is worthy of a few giggles. First we helped the locals and...
After experiencing nothing but blessing upon blessing in China, Yellow Team realised that that suffering would have to follow. Not because God wants us to suffer, or we deserve it, or blessings are usually followed by suffering, but because ... Well
I don’t really know why, I just knew that it can’t carry on going that well all year long.
