The beauty of mystery

IMG_20190411_033737
Africa! What a beautiful place Rwanda and Uganda was🇷🇼🇺🇬 I was mesmerized by the kind hearts of these people. We thought that we were going to serve and love. Instead we have been served and loved so much more. And what makes this even more special is that these people really don't have much. But what they do have they give away or served us with that.   Holding an african child on my lap, waving at schoolkids screaming Muzungo, hugging baby goats and just loving the friendly hearts welcoming you around every corner! I was thinking back on childhood....

The beauty of vulnerability

IMG_20190313_10530_20190419-203354_1
This sentence is gonna sound a bit like a contradiction to the previous blog I posted about the beauty of weakness but bare with me for a moment and you will see how it fits in together. The world teaches us that vulnerability equals weakness but actually vulnerability equals beautiful strength. It is much more difficult to be vulnerable and honest about how you feel than not. It is when we are real and share the rawness of what is really going on in our heart, that takes so much boldness and courage.   Since Jesus have taught me about...

The Unexpected Journey

IMG-20190311-WA0002
"Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation", a small whisper and prompting that would change the course of my life. In the movie, Hobbits: The unexpected journey, Gandalf, one of the most powerful wizards, asks his friend Bilbo a hobbit, to go on an quest with him and a group of dwarves to reclaim the kingdom of Erebor. Bilbo would soon realise that this journey would not be at all what he expected, taking him on a treacherous and dangerous path, fighting orcs, giant spiders and even a dragon. Relating to Bilbo was easy when...

fix your focus

IMG_20180504_180956_944
Taking photos in the outdoors we see this eagle in flight and pull out our camera's immediately focussing on the eagle close by and blurring out the rest, zooming in to see the detail of the eye forgetting about the rest. Having the right angle to capture the Beauty of the feathers, have the shutter speed just right to catch the perfect shot. Have the aperture bigger to capture more light to emphasize the Eagle. Have the right aspect ratio to get the size of the photo right.   We are so focused on using all these features to get...

The moulding of the human character

johnson-tsang-surreal-face-sculptures-9
A feeling of fear goes through me... Am I safe? What about the other two in my team? Is it only me that is feeling like this?  I pray to God. My character is being moulded. Vulnerability is looming in the air around me. I feel the fear again, but I keep on praying. The responsibility of looking after my teammates is resting on my shoulders like a heavy boulder. I force myself to be diligent as the wheels of the truck keeps on rolling. As time goes by and the gap between us ans our destination, Jeffreys Bay, crimps...

Jesus has the key! You are white washed you are clean!

IMG_20190211_00145_20190228-224928_1
'GOD IS LIGHT IN HIM THERE IS NO DARKNESS'  "Can't you see?" the he said to me, "See what?" I asked. "That you are white washed, you are clean," then he continued "Will you give it to me?..." Totally confused by this question I asked: "What, what do you want me to give? My life? Is that the right answer?... What is it that you ask of me?". "Your darkness" he replied.  "What darkness and how do I give it? Why do you want it anyway?" He answered me after awhile "Your rejection, your sadness, your pain. I want...

Resting in the climb

IMG-20190225-WA0008
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."  Proverbs 3:5  I have probably heard/read this scripture hundreds of times in my life, but to be honest, having an adventurous heart and loving the unexpected, this promise never really excited me that much. However, after receiving the verse five times on one day from different sources, I realised that God must be trying to tell me something specific. I was sure that God wanted to reveal more from this promise...

Unconscious

IMG_20190225_124951_861
It's so easy to go to bed when you do it every night.  It's so easy to relax on a couch when it awaits you in your living room.  It's so easy to wash your hands when there is a basin readily available.  It's so easy to pour yourself something nice when it's cooling off in the fridge. It's so easy to take a hot shower and get into fresh clothes when you have a cupboard full of options.  It's so easy to snack when you're not even hungry if there are goodies in the pantry. It's so easy to live...

My plans or God's plans....

images.jpeg-2
I didn't expect to be doing a journey this year. There wasn't a thought about Global Challenge in my mind, but God had other plans.    One thing that we must realise is that God's plans are better than our dreams. I had other plans for 2019, but it wasn't the right plans. So on the 9th of January, a day before training started, I talked to Louw Burger and Reinhardt Foley and that's where my journey started. Unprepared, nervous and with a sleeping bag the size of a tent I arrived at GLA the next day.   God started...

LETTING GO OF THE YOKE

Today marks 1 month of the unexpected journey that is Global Challenge in my life, so far I have been reeducated in almost every area of my being. In one month God has miraculously stretched my faith filled me with his spirit and taught me so many truths. He has abolished the lies killed off the fears and taught me what true love means, the kind that is without expectation of getting anything back the kind that Jesus was the perfect example of. Saying that this is my latest truth.   A popular example of explaining the place I have...
