Humbling Revelations

Humbling Revelations
Humbled. Silent. Humbly silent. In the busyness of Peru, we still had the privilege of being given time to climb Machu Picchu. Three years of excitement stored up for this moment, I was ready to go - not even the 2000 death steps we had to climb to get to the top could dull the excitement buzzing in me. When we got to the top, we were greeted by thick mist and could hardly see what was in front of us. Trying to stay positive and accepting the fact that I wouldn't get good photos, I stared at the mist...

Lyrics from my heart

God is so real. He is so present. He goes before me in every situation. He holds my heart in the palm of His mighty hand. What else can I do but worship the King of kings?   Through Colombia, Peru and Chile I just realized again how much God loves me and how much He longs to be with me. I missed home more than ever in Colombia and Peru but after lots of prayer, God changed my heart. And I know now that God has something amazing instore for me in this last few days!   I really...

Always a student...

Wow time really has been a great time with priceless moments and special encounters with Jesus. Colombia, these hands belongs to you God. I've experienced the healing hand of God once more, where God taught me the very important lesson to let people help me and that stubborness is a barrier to healing. Amazon boat trip, discovery 101 What is love?? What does it look like?? How do i practically show love??  My security, where do I put my security?? Pink dolphins?? What??  These where the questions I had with stepping on the boat... It was quite a personal journey...

Halfway through Nepal

When God calls you on an adventure, you say yes. No asking questions or checking your schedule. Just a simple, no second thoughts, YES! So with one month left of traveling the world, eating what is set before me and sleeping anywhere, I am now saying yes more than ever. It started with a trip into the foothills of the Himalayas to a small Sherpa village. So with an 'off road' bus we traveled for 10hours on a gravel road and then some with a jeep or two. We arrived at our destination after sunset and were welcomed by the...

The secret life of Walter Mitty

The first time I saw this movie I thought it was ridiculous. Who would merely dream of adventure instead of living it? And why is the possibility of unemployment the motivation to get out of one's comfort zone? The second time I watched the movie, I re-examined my own life. I always considered myself adventurous: in eating habits, hobbies and always saying yes to silly scenarios. I have traveled the world and done some pretty cool things. But it is only now, while on a shaky bus through the mountains of Nepal on the way to a remote village that...

For my power is greatest when you are weak

Peru is divided in three different climates: Rainforest, dessert & Ocean and mountains - the Andes. We spent one month in Peru. As well as different the climates are so are the people and the ways people live. In no other country we had so many ministry opportunities. I remember one day in one of the villages in the Andes: 3 School visits, later children programm in a park and then in the evening evangelism in a public place. That's a good example of how packed the time in Peru was. Additional it was cold, we couldn't sleep much...

King of kings.

In Penang we joined a YWAM program for drug addicts, prostitutes, homeless people and even lady boys. It was a beutiful place to show God's love, the most hart breaking thing for me is that some of the people didn't believe they could go to heaven. So when I evangelised I usually started with, "Do you want to go to heaven right now ?" People were stunned at this and usually said something like, "I can't." Then they would ask who are you and I would say ," The brother of Jesus Christ and my Father is God." Eyes would...

You could at least have said thank you

Oh my word, he could at least have said thank you!! The way we as humans expect 'thank yous' is crazy, it's reminds me of us being made in the image of God. He wants our praise and for us to glorify Him, but as soon as we make ourself the main one, the god, AKA self hasn't fallen yet, we expect that praise for ourselves. I need to get to a point of totaly doing, without expecting any gratitude. Furthermore we don't need praise from people at all! When you want praise you live for yourself. Romans 2: 29...

Thailand & Malaysia

I've been staring at this blank screen for too long, typing, back spacing, trying, thinking.. I wanted to have a cool start for my blog you know. But..let me use what God taught me this whole year. Be Real. Spontaneous. Soooooo this Blog will be about my Thailand and Malaysia experiences. We first experienced the lovely Bangkok and then traveled to Chang Mai , knowing our 'Luke 10' is waiting there for us. We were divided into smaller teams and then sent out to survive and spread the gospel for a week without anything except the clothes we were wearing....
