Lights, Camera, Action!

Lights, Camera, Action!
I don't really know how to start or how to write this blog. How does one explain 6 countries done living by faith for one month just a few sentences... I'll try my best to just give you a glimpse of my experiences of our  time in central America. It's been a complete faith journey the whole time. Have you ever wondered how life would be like if you put your trust 100% in God?    Well... He might just ask you to pioneer Mexico and do your Luke 10 from Cancun, Mexico to Guatemala for 10days. But that...

The good Shepard

Five days, five countries… We travelled from Guatemala to Costa Rica, passing through El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua. God really surprised me and it was such a joy to truly trust God and go wherever He had prepared for us. I had found myself laughing at the situations and places we were in because I really experienced the promises of God so practically. In Psalms 91 God says ‘If you say the Lord is my refuge and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent for He will command...

The Writer

There are good times, there are bad times, times of joy to the full, times of deep sadness, times we believe we are in control and times we clearly understand we are not. Do we know what will happen next in our lives? Certainly not. Although sometimes we wish we are able to. As many scenarios plays itself out in our lives, we begin to realise that the pen writing the story of our life is not in our own hands but in the hands of Another, One Who is far more creative, witty and funny than us.   Even...

A journey full of God's miracles

Ten days Luke 10 journey - What else as miracles can you expect?   In our first Luke 10 journey in training I was sceptical how God will show up and what he has planned for us. Everything was new for me and I didn't know so much fun will expect me. After this privilege to experience this and hear all the stories from the other groups I was so excited for this faith trip and knew that He will provide and be with us all the time. Praying, listening to God's voice and stepping into his plan were a...

The Big Bang... God?

I was ready to save the world! Superwoman suit - CHECK. Last year just the thought of doing this adventurous Global Challenge gave me an electron bombardment! I got emotional and anxious as I really have a HUGE task to fulfill.  A few months later I'm sitting here vividly realizing I was the one getting saved and that this year was basically giving myself fully over to the King of kings to change me into the new being that He promised to change me into.  Everything I ever wanted to be was inside of me all along-Jesus. All I had...

Missing Mexico

The worst part about traveling is knowing you will never be the same after leaving the place you were in. In some cases, you leave a piece of your heart behind, along with the people you've met. This was one of those cases. Mexico, you have completely changed my perspective of what it means to fall in love with a place. When I think back on our time in Mexico, I don't see places, I don't see the beach or the shops or the thousands of tacos that we ate. I see the faces of people that I met and...

What happened in Ethiopia

What happened in Ethiopia
When we say 'pioneering Ethiopia' we do so because that is exactly what took place. We arrived in Ethiopia with nowhere to go, nowhere to specifically serve and nowhere to sleep. After being chased out by airport security we recall sitting outside in the parking lot weighing our options. We could either set up camp across the airport in a field or risk our low budget by sleeping at a hostel in expensive Addis Ababa.    We went with the latter option. So we found ourselves praying and seeking the Lord that we would do His will and that He...

Empty as a pocket

A famous singer once sang about a poor boy who was empty as a pocket with nothing to lose. I believe I saw people, while serving in a refugee camp on the Macedonia-Serbia border during the last weeks of May, who were empty as a pocket emotionally. On the surface there was a strong, good face but the deeper that you reach into that pocket the more empty you find it to be.    Deep hopelessness - sitting on the border in a camp with all you need to survive physically - food, water, clothes, a place to rest your...

Miracles in Mexico

Miracles in Mexico
Where do I start with the favour that we experienced from God in Mexico? I can't even explain the amazing time we had. Since we entered the Mexican airport we experienced the fullness of His favour.   One of our last days in Mexico, our host took us to the Chichen Itza temple (one of the 7 world wonders) and so I'm sitting in a bus, coming back from a long day of being a tourist. It's our first time traveling with a group of tourists, we even got the sticker on our chests. Strange. While listening to some...

Friendship and revelations

Two different worlds in one month. Russia: cold and quite people Cuba: hot and open people   The first three days in Havana were really hard for me, because the hot weather and the long walks made me so exhausted. So from this point I started to hope that the next three weeks will go quickly. After a twelve hour truck drive and first meeting with the Gladios members I started to enjoy this time. We had the privilege to build new friendships with them and work in the organisation and their church. In our free time we discovered Santiago...
