Laying down or Giving up?

Laying down or Giving up?
When I started with Global Challenge I said: I am giving up a year of my life to serve God and to work for Him. I am honestly sick and tired of that mindset! This is not "just one year". This is part of life. Giving up and over to God is not needed for just one year. It's not like: Wow okay I give up one year and then I can live the rest of my life in the way I have planned. NO! I don't just give one year. I lay down my whole life. It's not just one...

The Hidden World Guide to Central America

The Hidden World Guide to Central America:   Step 1   First, you're going to need to take a leap of faith and fly to Mexico with no contact and no plan. There you will meet an immigration officer who just so happens to be a pastor of a great big church. Wait for the invitation, and off you go to Mundo de Fe Cancun where your host, a complete stranger, will welcome you and your team of 11 to live with him and his family for 2 weeks. In this time you can expect to get very little sleep...

Walking with Maasai

You know the feeling you get when you see something appealing in a person, and you want it? You know it when you see it. Maybe not at first, but gradually it penetrates, awakening desire for you to be someone similar. It may be a certain characteristic that stands out - something you admire. And you start seeing it as you come into regular contact, sharing in the person's good company. The very aura this person gives off is reflected in the way they go about every day activity - a combination of settledness, contentment and overcoming. The notion of...

It's not just a bag

It's not just a bag
I asked God to make my bag lighter on Luke 10, because it is really heavy. God told me, 'No'. My bag is heavy because it represents how people carry their own weight. God wants to give me a heart for those people who don't give their things to God and doesn't know that it is possible. On Luke 10, Johannes would help me put my bag on my back and for that moment it would be easier. Talita also pushed me up a hill for 5 meters. The thing is people can try to help you, but it doesn't...

The table

Turkey , Macedonia , Kosovo and 4 days in Malaysia. What a wonderful time! Having the opportunity to serve in love and strength, filling afflicted hearts with a peace that does not come from you . But wait there , comes from Him , He has filled me . What insane! Going to a place where you are uncertain of what will roll at the same time come to a place where you also do not know WHAT will roll but knows that his Father is in control of everything. We saw from the turkish beauty to the conflict between...

LUKE 10 Chapter 1

LUKE 10 Chapter 1
Our journey kicked off in Cancún, Mexico, where we had to travel for 10 days and meet up with the rest of the team in Guatemala. My group got a lift to Merida which is a big city in Mexico where we spent our first night sleeping at the bus station where we got chased away at 12pm. We found another bus station where they let us sleep.    Early morning we started hitchhiking towards Campeche. The lady we got a lift with was actually on her way to Cuidad del Carmen which was even better for us....

MEXICO & Co

MEXICO & Co
Mexico was a big fiesta. We arrived without planning food and accommodation, but ended up having an air conditioned bedroom and a huge dish of tacos the first night. Our man of peace was a passport control official when we found out that he’s a pastor, inviting us to a conference at his church that evening. We took a taxi straight from the airport to the conference, arrived with our luggage, dropped it in an office and joined the fiery congregation.  We were taken in by a man and his wife, Armando and Milly and little did we know that...

A present of God - Gracias Señor

How big is the probability to go to a country not knowing where to go, where to sleep, what to eat, what to do, but finding everything prepared?! That's exactly what happened to us in Mexico. Gracias Señor - Thank you Lord! We believe in God and not in probabilities, God had everything prepared, the whole 2 weeks in Mexico seemed like a present, showing just a drop of God's amazing love. So many times we got invited to eat in restaurants, people of the church were bringing us so much food that in the end was enough left to...

Living Luke 10

Living Luke 10
Luke 10 for 10 days. The Bible tells us to go heal the sick and share that the Kingdom of God is near. We are to go with peace, but without money. We went from Cancun to Guatemala. I would urge you to look at a map and see it for yourselves. I learned a lot in the past 10 days, through broken Spanish, since no one in the team could speak it, hitchhiking and giving your biggest smile so cars would stop, no food for a few days, dehydration, enjoying the scourging heat at the back of a Bakkie,...

Homelessness

Homelessness
What is home? Because for some reason or another I am not quite that sure. Is it the place I sleep at with my team,(which is usually a church, someones home or currently a Firefighter station?) Is it where my parents live in Johannesburg where I am showered with love? Is it Potchefstroom where I studied for the past four years? Is it Namibia where I was born? Is it Cape Town where I grew up? None of those feel like home... I don't fit into this world anymore. I don't know what to do with this realization. I can't...
