The Superhero Comparison

The Superhero Comparison
This whole Global Challenge has been tough. I've really been struggling to fit into my team and to find my purpose. I spoke to my leader and she said a few things that was needed, but I want to tell you about two things. Fitst she said that you're value is not in your purpose, it is in who you are. Second thing is that we are not human doings, we are human beings. I am not going to elaborate on that, but think about it. Anyway, continuing. It went really bad with my emotional and spiritual state. I started...

What do you mean it's not about me?

Wait! What? This is not about me?    So I am selfish. Done. That's it. What else is left to say? Listen to this sentence - it tells you values that Global Challenge decided on. We share the Good news to a world in need. Guess what I concentrated on. Yup, good guess! The 'we'-part.  Luckily I can promise you this: God will reveal unto you if in anything you are otherwise (than what He wants) minded (Phil 3:15). Because He is faithful to His word, He came to show me how absolutely selfish I am. I started realizing how...

Radical

The word radical is defined as the relating to, or affecting of, the fundamental nature of something. Training has been exactly that. Radical. My understanding of God's love has been radically overthrown - actually my understanding of love in general to be honest...my heart has been radically taken over by a love that we as sinners don't deserve, I have been radically affected by grace, I've had radical encounters and I've been radically changed. The past 7 weeks can not be put into words. Mostly because my thoughts and ideas are all over the place, but also because they have...

Started from the bottom now we're here.

Started from the bottom now we're here.
Israel oh Israel, you were such a interesting country. We arrived here not knowing where we are going, but God took me on one incredible journey. I was in for a big surprise when I thought that Israel was just a boring country full of people stuck in history.    In our first week I hit rockbottom, we had some really tough times and I started to miss home a lot. But I learned that it's only when you hit rockbottom that you realize that God is the rock. Luckily we all made it through that first week, and...

Miracles in Mexico

Miracles in Mexico
Where do I start with the favour that we experienced from God in Mexico? I can't even explain the amazing time we had. Since we entered the Mexican airport we experienced the fullness of His favour.   One of our last days in Mexico, our host took us to the Chichen Itza temple (one of the 7 world wonders) and so I'm sitting in a bus, coming back from a long day of being a tourist. It's our first time traveling with a group of tourists, we even got the sticker on our chests. Strange. While listening to some...

Turkey - confronted by blessings

On the fourth of march we arrived in Istanbul, a city with about 10 million people. By God's grace we found a very cheap hostel right in the centre between the famous mosque "Hagia sophia" and the sea (Bosporus)! Already at this place we experienced the hospitableness and kindness of turkish people, just amazing! A week later we arrived in Izmir. For the first time in my life I saw Christian believers worshipping God in an underground church! An incredible experience! So many different nations, but all having the same father! A completely filled church! A lot of joy!! Our...

ThIs heat got some beat...

So after cold and grey Russia we arrived in Cuba..stepping of the plane I was welcomed with the heat of the Caribbean and people talking, laughing and smiling. Driving out of the airport it felt like I went back in time. There is nothing modern in Cuba, everything is still the Same as in the 80's.  I was amazed to see how people just carried on living in that way. The music is everywhere and as you go you catch the one beat from the other one. There's people dancing in the streets in their houses in restaurants....
