Counting the Cost - Heart for the Hurt

Counting the Cost - Heart for the Hurt
1, 2, 3 ... 109 ... 135 - this is me counting the cost of what it physically means to follow the heart of Jesus into the Amazon if I count the mosquito bites on only one half of my leg with repellent on!! We knew we arrived in the Amazon when we could feel mosquitoes bite us through our clothes before reaching the terminal! And because of the extreme heat that covers you like a thick blanket. We met with the missionaries at the YWAM base near Manaus. They live right next to the HUGE Amazon River :) They...

My first Blog

Hi my name is Hendrik Roux I am 18 years old and I am finishing with school at Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool I started this year with the Question: What am I going to do with the rest of my life? This was a Great battle for me. I didn’t know if I should go study or even what to study... I didn’t know what to do with my life. I was reminded that I was trying to solve my own problems and not listening to God My prayer to God was that He should lead my life and show me...

Passengers are reminded not to leave baggage unattended at anytime.

Passengers are reminded not to leave baggage unattended at anytime.
8 days, 8 flights, 8 countries, 8 airports, chicken buses, jeepneys and many hours of transit hearing about how we must watch our baggage! Oh yes it sounds a little over exagerated but it really isn't. That is exactly how we got from Panajachel, Guatemala to Lapu Lapu City, Philippines. Travel team always sounds so exciting but there is always a huge amount of time involved. Leaving Guatemala I was excited to step out in the new understanding  of the authority I have in Jesus Christ. My main expectation was to be able to testify of what God had done...

Luke 10 mission in St Francis

Luke 10 mission in St Francis
No money, no phones, just the clothes on our backs and our Bibles...that is how we were sent out on our first Luke 10 mission. Four of us hitch hiked to St Francis Bay last Friday. Not knowing where exactly to go, we walked through the streets, intentionally looking for people to bless and pray for. Not by accident we stumbled across a youth group gathering that evening. We met Rachael, an American missionary, who invited us into her home for the weekend. We wanted to bless her with prayer, fellowship and encouragement, yet we were overwhelmed by the way...

Small people, small towns and lots of dust!

It has been a long time since my last blog and in the time it took me to blog again we changed countries! We went from Thailand to China, and what a shift that was! While we were in transit, we spent the night on Shanghai train station and we realised that it was Sunday the 19th - and everywhere were posters advertising the F1 race in Shanghai, today! We couldn't believe it and so we decided to go and see if we can watch some racing! We got to the train station and saw just one other tourist. We ran up to...

Transkei - Awakening of the soul by the filling of the Spirit.

Transkei - Awakening of the soul by the filling of the Spirit.
We spend the last two weeks in the Transkei. The first week we were in Coffee Bay where we helped to renovate a small Christian school. While we were building, fixing, painting and moving around things in the school and the house of the lady who started it, God was doing the same in the houses of our souls. We had teachings on Spiritual warfare and deliverance, where we learned to face our sins and mistakes and to give them to Jesus so that He can free us. We were filled with the fullness of the Holy Spirit so that...

What happened to the nations?

19:30, Delhi India, Internetcafe... Sitting here trying to explain only the first 3 weeks of our Global Challenge Journey... IMPOSSIBLE Our (Northounds) journey to the nations started on 4th of March. we got on the plane with so many mixed emotions about the following 8 months. At that staged I did not realise how much the rest of the world needs God! And how God needs people, willing to sacrifise a year, no, their life, for Him. We started in Kathmandu, Nepal for a week. in that week we spent time with the believers in Kathmandu, visiting housefellowships, church meetings...

For quite a while now I have been walking with the question that how can it be fair that some get to hear the gospel each day of his life and then there are others that never got the chance to hear it before they die. Do these two individuals have the same chance of being saved?

Beautiful Suriname...

Beautiful Suriname...
Crossing the Guyanese border with a ferry into the Dutch speaking country of Suriname... Not wanting to rest our eyes, when there is so much to see... Wooden houses build on stilts, coloured flags every where, all sorts of new fruits to try while seeing so many warm smiling faces..   After settling in, Pastor Moestafa came to greet us with a big smile. As one of the teachers at the mission school we could really learn a lot from him, for he has such a passion when he starts talking about God and even tears up when he explains...
