The Joy of the Lord is Our Strength

The Joy of the Lord is Our Strength
Taking a 16 hour bus ride to Nairobi was quite an experience. Our bus driver was so confident in his driving ability that cars on the road seemed insignificant; he would proceed to gently run others off the road if they were in the way. There was no toilet on the bus and we stopped about every 5 hours, one being a break on the side of the road with no bushes… This poses as a much easier break for men than women. We arrived in style at our ministry point taking a taxi that lit up the night...

Training went so fast!

Welcome to my first blog!  We had the privilege to experience a lot during the training time, but I just want to share two of my highlights. The survival week was one of my favourite times in traning. The fact that we had every day challenges against the other teams to get food changed my thinking about it, we should be thankful for our daily dishes and it is a privilege to have enough to eat. I enjoyed my teammates and the fact that we did everything together as a team. Luke 10- journey: We had the task to travel...

Delhi madness

Delhi madness
Arriving in Delhi was a shock! Coming from the nice and cool temperatures in China we headed over to the scotching heat in India. WE where surprised and many fell ill in the first few days. After a few days of exploring Delhi, dodging all the cars and cows in the busy streets we climbed in a train with a small fan above your head for 9 hours in the exhausting heat. We arrived in Kota and we were taken straight to the children’s home. We where so surprised by the friendliness and the willingness of the people to help...

ICC (India Compassion Challenge)

We started out this morning with a great breakfast and some time to discuss our journey this year… And then out of the blue we received our challenge papers!!! But it was a challenge with a twist… ICC (India Compassion Challenge) is a challenge bases on Mat 25: 31- 46 and Job 29: 12- 17. Sony and I were in a team and I thought we had a leading start. Everything was going good and before we knew it, we were on our final and most important task: Feeding the hungry! We saw four families living on the street and...

In a position to freely give

Our journey of finding the R690 000 for the Augmentation fee has placed me on a journey of my own. It fascinated me to see how the Lord provided the money. We were constantly praying, waiting and fasting for the money.  But one thing we didn’t see coming was that the Lord had already somehow provided money within Global Challenge to pay the fee. We were always expecting it to come from the outside, for someone mysterious to walk up and write us a cheque. Meanwhile the Lord had already provided what we needed- we only had to open our eyes...

Oh Zanzibar

Oh Zanzibar
Oh Zanzibar You greet me with a white-toothed smile A glimpse of breakthrough behind veiled face Poa you shout from your squeaky bicycle Skipping through the streets in your fancy dress You laugh at my attempt to speak with you. Always room for one more in your dala dala Your karibu the sound of a warm openness Explaining your history of nations walking through your cobblestoned door. Your search for knowledge keeps you young Asking and seeking, eager to learn. Behind the salaam in your mouth A question in your eyes meets mine Revealing a deeper ancient quest for Peace....

invitation of breakthrough

DEA5EFD0-50D4-4E26-860C-CC345314E737
As I walk up the steep, stone steps and look behind me at the valley I was convinced I had to make my home in, I am undone at the beauty my eyes behold. A spacious, inviting room adorned with greenery and fresh flowers in every corner- in the middle is the most beautifully set table I have ever seen. As the setting sun spilled in and lit up the room, I see a seat the has my name on it: a spot reserved and set just for me. You come and take my hand to lead me to my...

Jesus loves the little children...

Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.' - Matt 18:4 Wow, God is so Great and I now know why He adores the little children.  Our task for today was to go out, two-two, and connect with two people.  We also had to find a child and bless him/her and just love them.  Ida and I went out, prayed and asked God to lead us.  We ended up in the rural areas of the city.  On our way, we talked to a man about his children and his life.  We walked on...

THE END...

THE END...

The End

By: Marlene Putter

The end of the circle is usually also the beginning of the next one... depending on how you decide to view it.

The Bible can be a book or it can be God's living words... depending on how you  decide to view it.

A path leading up to a river can mean a dead end or the possibility of a future bridge... depending on how you decide to view it.

Death can mean the end of life or the beginning of eternity... depending on how you decide to view it.

God challenged me on the way I view things....

God's Splendor

gcx_zambia_022.jpgGod is truly amazing! He wants to give you your dreams but you first have to trust Him and say from your heart okay Lord I give you it all.

All my life I’ve wanted to see the Victoria Falls in all its splendor. So no matter how I’ve made plans or worked things out it just never seemed to become a reality. Even as we’ve traveled up to Zambia we’ve had to get a pic at the Vic Falls for our challenge. All the way there we talked about how we ARE going to do it and oh how we’ve dreamed about it. Well at the last moment… guess what? It didn’t happen!
