Lights will guide you home...

Lights will guide you home...
"Lights will guide you home and ignite your bones."    Words that kept playing over and over again in my mind as the lights of all the cities of Africa came alive to guide us to a place that feels like home. I finally understand why they say "Your home is where your heart is."    Israel...A place where Jesus' presence screams : 'HERE I AM , COME FIND ME!" And boy did I find Him. Oh Israel, how I've longed to walk the streets of your ancient cities and gaze upon their splendor and beauty. How glorious the...

Hi Chana-Red team (China)

Hi at the moment we are in China. We had a very good time in Thailand. God challenged us on quite a few things, especially trusting Him, servanthood, submitting our own will and desires to His. God is really good even if things get tough. He stays faithful in every aspect. It is shocking to see how lost the world is. It doesn't matter if you are in Thailand or China. Thankfully there is always hope in Jesus Christ! And we as red team just experience that hope more day by day. Tommorow we are giong on a 3 week...

It's more "pun" in the Philippines

From eating "sea spaghetti", meeting new sisters in Christ, breaking down spiritual strongholds, and seeing hearts changed, the Philippines has been amazing.   After fives days of traveling using over five different kinds of transport and sleeping anywhere we could find, from airports to piers, we finally arrived in the Philippines. When we arrived we were greeted by the short term Philippines team (affectionately nicknamed the Beauty Pageant) who would be working with us with a local pastor. Our minestry was mostly evengelical, which was a new experience for most of us. We would start the day with house visits...

Oh, the beautiful mountains of Peru

Carla Peru:      "Oh how beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!" -Isaiah 52:7 After 5 of our team members met up with parents, sisters and Maxine we headed to a lakeside village named Copacabana (not the world renowned beach in Brazil, but probably more beautiful between the mountains and the highest lake of its size). There we spent a few days before heading to Cusco, Peru. Probably the biggest highlight of the parents' visit (and my whole year)...

A glimpse of the collatoral beauty.

I have changed. Changing even still. I remember sitting inches from the television realizing with relief that I missed yet another day. Afraid that the day would indeed hold as little as I'd expected. I could not stand being proved right. I would not survive the knowing that life did indeed have as little to offer as I've imagined. So I'd rather not. Not go for that walk, not smell those roses, not dance in the rain, not drive all the way to the top and look at the lights. I'd rather live with the fantasy that those things are...

God's Splendor

gcx_zambia_022.jpgGod is truly amazing! He wants to give you your dreams but you first have to trust Him and say from your heart okay Lord I give you it all.

All my life I’ve wanted to see the Victoria Falls in all its splendor. So no matter how I’ve made plans or worked things out it just never seemed to become a reality. Even as we’ve traveled up to Zambia we’ve had to get a pic at the Vic Falls for our challenge. All the way there we talked about how we ARE going to do it and oh how we’ve dreamed about it. Well at the last moment… guess what? It didn’t happen!

Masaailand

Wow, what a fun and exciting time we had! This was probably the most rural and cultural EA has ever been… We drove for hours through land where there’s nothing, and then finally, you could see little red dots moving amongst goats or sheep every now and then… this was it, we’d finally reached Masaailand.

Doing Global Challenge has been a dream of ours for a very long time and after more than a year of preparation and planning it was time for that dream to become a reality. 2012 was going to be the year in which we take our step in faith and say “Yes Lord, we will follow!”

Mahosheni - The city on a hill that cannot be hidden

Mahosheni - The city on a hill that cannot be hidden
The journey began on a Friday 4 February... and what a journey it has been! It has been some of the most amazing days of the year thus far. We helped build a rondawel, we learnt to speak Xhosa, we prayed, we made new friends, we dug a toilet, we prayed some more, we dug a vegetable garden and we worshipped BUT most importantly we were part of what God is doing in Mahosheni changing the lives of the people for all eternity and making Mahosheni a city on a hill that cannot be hidden. We asked some of the...
