The crazy Bamako express

The crazy Bamako express
While Detlef and I hitch-hiked across Senegal and Mali the rest of the team were somewhere in Senegal busy with their Luke 10.   Wayne led the team and they took Luke 10 very literally. Taking just enough money to get somewhere into the interior of Senegal and then the train from there to Bamako.   The intense heat in the interior caught them off-guard, as did the poverty of the people. They ended up in a small village where nobody had much food left. Spending a few days there they basically lived of the Mango trees. Here they...

Peter Pan

calvin-peter-pan
Work your Way, aka a year traveling the world with a bunch of guys, sounds like Neverland...because it is! Corona aka villain aka my arch nemesis sounds like captain Hook trying to ruin my fun...because it is! Ticking crocodile reminding me that time is running out and the year is coming to an end...because it is! Then there's Wendy, a woman, the one that convinces Peter pan to grow the hell up, leave Neverland and become a real man with responsibility... well damn. Looks like God used women this year to turn me into a better man. Deal with conflict,...

Israel and Palestine

Israel and Palestine
My Journey through Israel and Palestine opened my eyes to many new things. We saw places I have read about all mt life in the bible, I met people from all walks of life. Tasted food and flavour combinations I had never imagined before. I saw old testiment stories pointing toJesus. I gained insight in Judaism and Islam. Most profoundly I experienced God calling me DEEPER, Not only to learn more or new things but to come DEEPER. I have always heard this from other people and many people prayed it over me, but there is nothing like experiencing...

All we REALLY need is God

Watching Survivor on television has always been entertaining, seeing the good and bad of the people come to front and seeing how they survive within their natural surroundings, not knowing what their next meal will be or where it would come from, living in the bush with people they hardly know. The moment I was placed in the same situation all the fun and entertainment suddenly seemed to disappear.   During the last week we finally got to meet our team/family for the next year and  we were taken to the bush just outside of town for some teambuilding, at...

Beggar or Son

 Our Father in heaven,
 Reveal who you are.
 Set the world right;
Do what's best— as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
 You're in charge!
You can do anything you want!
 You're ablaze in beauty!
 Yes. Yes. Yes.
The Lord's prayer (the message)

Another Blessed Day at Work Your Way

It has truly been another blessed day at Work Your Way. We got up early as usual to have some quite time spent with God. Welman and Philip(who is convinced his stomach is starting to grow at a way to rapid pace) also decided it is about time to go for a jog with Tobi around a beautiful lake. De Necker, Freddy and Henro sat at the lake and read the Holy Bible, while Angelo and Bernard were kind enough to stay at home and wash the dishes aswell. For breakfast we had probably the most famous Global Challenge meal,...
