Something delightful

Going to Turkey was different for many of us. Some enjoyed not knowing where to go, what to do or what God has planned for us there. We only knew that He wants us to serve but the question was who first. The first guess was the refugees. Makes sense…they need help… we are here to serve… so we aimed for them, but it was like shooting a moving target in the dark. We heard so many rumours about where they are or should be but arriving only to see a lack of people to serve… Praying to God for...

the cries of Egyptian hearts

We're staying in a quaint little town called Dahab at the Red Sea with small little restaurants all along the coastline. I's a touristy town with Egyptians bargaining for best prizes everywhere... "Welcome to Egypt!" rings in your ears every day and wtih that the sound of an Imam screaming towards heaven 5 times a day - the cry of Egyptian's hearts. In the longing of their eyes they cry out for love and forgiveness and most of all hope. Who will tell them of a living God that IS love? Who will be the messenger of hope? I had...

An eye for an eye

Detlef and myself were walking the streets of Marrakech yesterday when suddenly, towards my right, a young Moroccon man suddenly started beating a girl. He first hit her through the face with his open hand and then kicked her on the leg so that she buckled under the force. I was over there in a flash and pushed the guy away repeating: "You dont hit a girl like that." He kept on pushing back against me, saying something in Derija (the local Arabic dialect). Meanwhile the girl started crying. By then a middle-aged Moroccon lady and her husband arrived and...

Simple, humble, precious

There’s something about standing next to a beautiful Masaai, with his stretched earlobes, listening to his deep voice, worshiping our great God... this is real, this is so authentic, to hear these people’s cry to God for their families, their villages, their land.

Truth revealed

Our time in Guatemala was a month, but it felt like a week. With us being so busy with so many different things. A team from South Africa visit us for 2 weeks and it was good to have some goodies from home. Our daily program was team devotions in the mornings, then of to work and then end the day with teaching till midnight.  The physical labour was a lot of fun and I obviously learned a lot, but that is not the only thing I will take with me. The teachings and the truth revealed is what I...

The Surgery of a Lifetime!

The Surgery of a Lifetime!
Isaiah 41:9-10 “…You are My servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you away; Fear not for I am with you; Be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”   If someone were to ask me how to explain in a couple of words what has gone on in the last month I wouldn’t be able to find those words. But let me just say that God is an amazing Father! God has an absolute perfect...

Red Hill DNA

During the last three months Red Hill has become inextricably part of our DNA. It is as if the air we breathe and the words we speak all carry some hidden meaning about this place, this township.

The Neglected Lady

The Lady Is called a Lady for a reason; she isn’t some type of robot that just provides the needs of us filthy men whenever we want something and just see her as a common servant. Moses did describe her in the book of genesis as a helper, but he did not say a lust pleaser. They are a lot more than that...they are delicate, they are precious, and they are God’s Creation....
