Jesus is in the "setting-free" business...

So out we go on our Luke 10 with 4 clues in our pocket for the treasure hunt: route62, Kareedouw, school, turqois. Me and Wayne end up hitch-hiking our way to our destination, totally dependant on Jesus en Holy Spirit's guidance . With much favor, we arrive at the little town, chatting to the lady in die quick shop. She directs us to the school in town "which needs Jesus." As we walked out of the door, a grey-haired man walks up to us. "Where are you from? What are you ding here? Do you have a place to sleep?"...

Sitting next to the road..

Sitting next to the road - Mauritania   Being left beside the road by the taxi driver, all 8 of us.   Let us start at the beginning.   Crossing the river into Mauritania, we had to wait for 3 hours for a stamp. We got our visas in Niger, but we still had to wait. Then they wanted to deport one of the team members for allegedly forging a visa. We showed them our receipts, convinced them to phone the embassy and then only after being scolded in a language that I do not understand, we could continue. But...

The Joy of the Lord is Our Strength

The Joy of the Lord is Our Strength
Taking a 16 hour bus ride to Nairobi was quite an experience. Our bus driver was so confident in his driving ability that cars on the road seemed insignificant; he would proceed to gently run others off the road if they were in the way. There was no toilet on the bus and we stopped about every 5 hours, one being a break on the side of the road with no bushes… This poses as a much easier break for men than women. We arrived in style at our ministry point taking a taxi that lit up the night...

Delhi madness

Delhi madness
Arriving in Delhi was a shock! Coming from the nice and cool temperatures in China we headed over to the scotching heat in India. WE where surprised and many fell ill in the first few days. After a few days of exploring Delhi, dodging all the cars and cows in the busy streets we climbed in a train with a small fan above your head for 9 hours in the exhausting heat. We arrived in Kota and we were taken straight to the children’s home. We where so surprised by the friendliness and the willingness of the people to help...

Where to start, what to say & what not to say?

It is difficult being back home, but that is what keeps life interesting.  It is hard to tell other people what I have learned this year because I just see things in a deferent way.  It was difficult to share at the beginning when I got home.  Not shore where to start or what to say and what not to say....

The biggest thing I have learned is that God will create opportunities where I can share or do whatever the Spirit tells me what to do.  I must not force the Gospel in anyone’s heart.  I should place the Gospel on top of their hearts and let it sink in & let God do the rest.  It’s so easy to scare certain people off; it’s all about listening to the voice of God.

But then again, It is amazing being back home, It is so exciting, I missed my family, my friends, Pretoria.  It’s such an adventure to see how God uses me.  It’s fun searching for a church where I feel like family, and to be challenged.  It’s like God gave me this canvas that I can paint my life story on.  It’s full of new challenges.  God keeps it interesting by throwing in different colours that I have never used before. I know it will end well!

Be blessed.

Fruitful Cameroon

Fruitful Cameroon
From the moment we were welcomed by white smiles in dark faces, letters on the doors of our new place we will call home for three weeks and a cooked meal which took lots of effort, we knew that our time in Cameroon will be special… We have just entered the land of hospitality and fruitfulness. An exhortation nation. Besides that fact that we ate pineapples and bananas until we thought we’ve hit the fruit basket in Africa, our ministry time, plowing and digging and planting we did into Arsene and Nadesh’s church (Revival for all Nations), already yielded much...

Jesus loves the little children...

Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.' - Matt 18:4 Wow, God is so Great and I now know why He adores the little children.  Our task for today was to go out, two-two, and connect with two people.  We also had to find a child and bless him/her and just love them.  Ida and I went out, prayed and asked God to lead us.  We ended up in the rural areas of the city.  On our way, we talked to a man about his children and his life.  We walked on...
